the workout had alot of hidden ab work .... core strength is required to hold yourself up for the leg work...so you use your abs for most of the tape
There was some very Pilates like floor work doing positions while lying down that i thought was fabulous.
the standing leg work was very abbreviated compared to a real class.. and the stretching was very good but still not near what you get in a real class.
there were the jumps that i used to dread.... thank goodness not nearly as many as one would endure in a class....(which would 16 small jumps in first, 16 small in second... 16 in third...etc... then do them all again faster...then more in plie.... ughhhhhhhh )
great for the legs though!
i Loved the tape, thought it was beautiful watch, listen and do ... I loved seeing the dancers struggle a little bit with their balance too!
they showed clips of the dancers dancing at the end, and i had tears in my eyes at times i was so touched by the beauty of it....
I would like to find another ballet tape that has a full class of leg and stretching.....
something i can really sink my teeth into..
Ballet does not offer specific attention to upper body strenghening...but if you look at a dancers back and arms you can see that they are incredibly defined ...so all the arm work of just holding the arms up and placing them gets beautiful results without weights or attention to bicepts, ticepts, deltoids etc..... It all gets done beautifully with just using the arms!!
(i noticed my hair stylist who is in her 50's has very nice arms from just cutting hair!)
anyhow.....
I loved the tape...would recommend it ...and am planning to ditch it all in oregon and start a new life with a new york ballet company...
