Just Curious - Insanity Question

I'll admit I'm curious--even if I do think you guys are all 'insane' (and I mean that as an awed compliment). For those of you who have Insanity, how would you rate the intensity against some of Cathe's workouts? I'm sure we're talking apples and oranges here, but like how hard are you working compared to say an IMAX 3 interval?

From the threads, it sounds like we'll have to put more numbers on the scale: Instead of 1-10, does it go up to 15 or something? We'll have to revamp the scale for STS Cardio anyway, right?

IMO its harder just b/c the rest periods are shorter. Cathe's Imax's have more rest. Insanity is about having more work effort vs. rest which makes it harder.

Elsie,

It is the toughest cardio I've done to date. It's like Drill Max on speed with less rest.
Plyo Circuit, Cardio & Resistance have 30 second recovery periods. After each rest period, you pick up speed so the drills get faster and faster.
Pure Cardio is relentless- there are no 30 second rest breaks. You do a series of athletic moves for one full minute- one right after the other. Shaun T drops to the floor at the end and says, "That sh*t is bananas!" He is so right:eek::eek:

It's like doing just 4 intensity blasts from an Imax workout 3x's through (getting faster each time through) taking a 30 second rest and then doing a stretch. Then doing 4 more blasts 3 times through (getting faster each time through) and then a 30 second rest and then 4 more blasts 3 times through (getting faster again) and then a cool down. I think the Insanity cardio drills are harder than a lot (but not all) of Cathe's cardio drills. They certainly get my HR up faster.

I really, really hope that Cathe's shock cardio offers this level of challenge. It's nice to have something to work toward.

I'd rate it a 15 out of 10. Yes, it's really, really, intense. I have to admit I'm pretty impressed and wasn't expecting it to be this hard. I'm so glad I was wrong! It's hard to believe that I could sweat so much!!!

I sweat easily...but I don't think that I've ever sweat SO MUCH!!! I had to get my yoga mat out for the level 1 drills in the Plyo Circuit because I couldn't keep my form and my hands were sliding all over in the puddle of sweat I was making! I giggled when I looked up towards the end of that DVD and saw that about 60-70% of the participants had to slow down or stop...not sure if they did on purpose, but I didn't feel like a failure when I took a 10 second breather...I was using sprints on the treadmill, Drill max and Imax 3 to get ready, adding in just the intensity blasts and this is WAY more difficult...but yet doable and oddly enticing (I want more!!!)
I really like them so far (my calves haven't felt this worked since my years cheerleading!)
