June-Mommies check in

Hi all,
looks like we need a new post.
Autumn, hope you are doing ok .
Melanie, Maggie and Emy, hope your pregnancies are going well.
Briee, how are your new 4 legged babies doing?

Ms. Alexis is teething big time as hasn't been herself. She is hysterical though and is a true girl walking around the house in mommy's high heals. Overnight she became a toddler who will only wear certain clothes and certtain shoes. If asked to do something she doesn't want to do, the answer is "NOOOOO".

My weight is back down to 101-102 but varies by a few pounds each day. Last week was my oldies but goodies firm week.
Sunday-off
Mon-stepfit+ps abs
Tues-mic-step+ mis-lower
wed-mic-hi/lo +mis-upper+abs
Thurs-powermax
Fri-power hour
Sat-wedding tape-toning workout+ walk to the park

Alexis certainly does sound like the little lady. Polar opposite of our sweet little beastie...

I feel like crap, sorry to be so crude, but there it is.

I've gained about 5-6 lbs, but most of it was between 5 and 6 weeks along, so very little since then. I'm definitely showing already, which is a little depressing, but I ordered a bunch of cute maternity clothes, including a maternity suit (my first:p ). I usually put on about 15 lbs during the 1st trimester, so I'm feeling pretty good that I have not been gaining at that rate, so far.

I posted my workouts on the mom's to be check in and can't remember them at the moment post them again.

Bardric fell, doing one of his acrobatic stunts and had to have his chin "glued", which is what they do in lieu of stitches these days. I would not recommend it for a small child, because they are not supposed to pick at it or get it wet. Well his drool got it wet and within 2 hours, he had picked it off. But it is healing nicely and it looks like the scar will be negligable.

Now he has figured out how to flip himself over the barrier on our deck, which really has me stressed out, because I depend on the deck like a great big play pen, where he can be safely "contained".

Hope the rest of you are doing well.

Maggie

Maggie, Max sliced his nose open about a year ago, and the ER stuck it together with "butterfly" bandages. They said it wouldn't scar, well, he has a very noticeable raised scar on his nose. I wasn't happy about that. I'm wondering if it would've healed better had they just stitched it up...

Shopaholic, Alexis sounds like quite a little big person. So cute! Hopefully she minds her mom most of the time.

Anyway, this week has been difficult so far! I am soooo tired and Max is soooo energized. That renders us uncompatible right now. Any free moment I get, I crawl into bed. I don't have any energy from the moment I get up in the morning. Today was my first day working out this week.

Our house just went up for sale today. I am nervous about keeping it clean to show. This will be a challenge. Still don't know if this baby will be born here or in GA.

Last week I did 4 workouts.

Mon- Low Max (1-6)
Tue- none
Wed- none
Thu- Energy Sprint
Fri- Muscle Max
Sat- Kick Max (minus leg stuff)

I am actually looking forward to post partum and not being able to workout for a while!

Maggie, you are probably showing early due to all your other pregnancies. You probably are the opposite of me, with Alexis I gained minimal weight the first trimester and put it all on the last trimester.
Emy, I give you credit for handling a toddler, a pregnancy and a move, no wonder you are drained. I forget where are you living now?

I must admit Alexis is quite the lady, compared to your boys. She is very energetic but no big bruises yet.

Emy--I'm sorry about the scar! I think that they choose alternatives to stitches, because it's hard for them to get the little guys to be still, but in my experience, I will insist on it next time. I will pray for you, you have a stressful last bit here with your move and active toddler and having to keep the house clean and all!

Shopaholic--actually, I typically gain weight throughout the whole pregnancy:eek:  , but I am doing better so far this time. I always lose the first 25 lbs in the first 2 weeks, so even if I gained 40 this time, which I think is doable with a little self control, I'll only have 15 to lose, which compared to the many times I've taken off 30-40 lbs, seems like a small amount.

I just don't want to have to lose that 43 lbs I just lost all over again!

Maggie

Hi ladies!!! Glad to hear from you. I'm not going to post my workouts this week. I want to MIL for Memorial Weekend & didn't get a chance to workout...but 1-2 times last week. I don't even remember what I did, so I can't post!

Maggie, I can't believe you little guy flung himself over your patio! We don't let Justin play out on ours b/c it's a 30feet fall. Jory however was jumping on a twin size bed in our spare room when he was about 2 yrs old & split his face open as he fell into an aquarium. It was awful. I'd have to say the most awful day of my life. He had a hole in his face that went all the way through. We dialed 9-1-1 & a plastic surgeon put over 200 stitches in his face. He will be scared for life. Fortunately, since his face has grown the scar has "shortened" in appearance. Anyway, DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS JUMP ON BEDS!!!

Emy, I have no idea how your going to do it all. I do not envy you at all! You WILL get thru this though & be a stronger person. I'm putting in a request that your baby can be born right in your hometown. You're almost there!!!

Briee, I cannot believe you got two more dogs!! That's just CRAZY girl. Has anyone told you that you're crazy before? Wow! Are these outside dogs?!?!?

Shopaholic, remember, Justin has 1st dibbs on Alexis. BTW, I haven't seen any pictures of your little doll in quite some time. Would you send me one!??!

Autumn, are you still with us?
Did I miss anyone?

I still have 2 weeks until my 1st ob appt. I'll be close to 15weeks. My tummy's beginning to feel better, but I'm still tired. I could take a daily nap. DH has been wonderful though. He forgets that I"m pregnant sometimes b/c I'm not showing yet. My clothes are getting tighter though. Wondering if I can wait until first ob appt to tell boss...

Oooh Melani--How awful for little Jory. That must have been so traumatic for you all. I will remember that as my kiddos attempt to jump on the bed. Our deck is only a foot or so off the ground, so he's not really in any danger from falling, I just don't want him wandering around our huge yard when I am trying to teach. We are training him stay on the deck, but it will take some diligence on my part!

I am still here, and I am hanging in. Thank you for asking. :) MIss Sydney is asking some tough questions... she asked about Grandma "promising" to get better when we saw her in ER... tough stuff to address. We are getting through it though.

I have been going through family pictures. I put a slide show up on picturetrail and shared it, and the process has been very therapeutic.

Big news!!!! Jordan is crawling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought he might skip crawling and go straight to walking. He is everywhere. :)

Miss Sydney is getting ready for her first dance recital Father’s day weekend. I am more anxious than she is. :)

I did Yoga Booty Ballet all week last week, and it was fun. I am not ready to jump in with Cathe yet, so I am taking my time and doing what I enjoy at the moment. The exercise is good for my emotional well-being.

Emy sorry about Max's scar. Miss Sydney has one that extends from her eyebrow. I blame myself, because we were getting ready for bed and I told her to hurry. She ran into the bathroom and fell. I guess she hit the toilet, but it didn't look like she hit anything from my angle. She was crying but I thought she hurt her knees or something. I saw the blood on her face, but she wouldn't let me look at the wound. I felt my way to the source and immediately knew it would need stitches. Of course, DH was out of town and DD has a head laceration, which usually bleed. Thankfully, it stopped bleeding (a blessing really). Well, the doc assessed it and glue was out of the question. So, he decides on stitches, which I am dreading because of the wiggly, panicky 3 y/o. He tells me because I am a nurse he knows I can handle seeing my DD given Ketamine (street name Special K). Ketamine can be used as a general anesthetic for children. It results in dissociation, pain relief, and amnesia. He told me many parents don't like the side effects, a trance. Well, she was given the ketamine... and very quickly was in a trance (glassy-eyed stare)... her saliva production increased so she was gurgly... but never moved. I am glad I consented to it after the fact, but I can see why parents freak out over it.

Anyway, that was 2 1/2 years ago, and the scar is slowly improving. I have been using Mederma, but I don’t know if it is really helping. I suspect it will be barely noticeable as she grows and the skin stretches and with skin cell turnover. I know when I haven't kept up with sun block application b/c it gets a little pink. It certainly doesn’t compare to the injury and scar Melanie described. I can’t imagine 200 stitches.

Emy, I hope all goes smoothly over the coming weeks. I have been to Georgia and it is just beautiful. One of the states I would consider for relocation.

Maggie, I read about Bardric and see my future with Jordan.

Melanie & Shopaholic, I hope all is well.

I better get and cook dinner.

Take care!

Shopaholic, I can't believe Alexis' picture. She's so adorable...but she looks so old. Is it true? Are our babies now toddlers/preschoolers. Couldn't be...

Melanie, the scary thing is that picture was taken about 2 months ago. This week starts the 2 year old birthday circuit. Alexis is the youngest in play group so we have birthday parties in june, july, August and then Alexis turns 2 in Sept. Didn't I just have her 1st birthday party? She really is a true toddler now, voicing "nooooo".

Hey guys. Maggie...I just hate that first trimester...things will look up soon!!! You'll be tying me in number of children :7 . Emy....you are almost to the end. Wow that went quick. I'll be praying for you regarding the move. There must be some purpose in this craziness you are going through and it will work out. Do you have any leads as to a midwife/doctor at your new location? I know there is some midwife association that can probably give you names in your new location - I can try to look it up if you want, otherwise, go online and check. I'm hoping you'll be able to keep us posted - leave that computer unpacked until the very end please!!!!

I took our kids swimming and on the post it board there was a listing of some woman who is a personal trainer and holds classes in a town not too far away. I loved the description as it spoke of "various forms of cruel punishment" from lunges to squats, etc. I emailed her and want to visit, just to get me going again. This past month has been a wash with the tooth thing, sickness, puppy trouble etc. It would be fun to join in with some others for a workout once every week or two, of course I always wonder just how INTENSE it is. Right now it might be perfect for me.

The puppy thing.....lessons to be learned. Never buy any major purchase (like a puppy) because your husband is conveniently gone and you can get away with it. God will get you!! I'm not going to go into detail, but puppy number one died and puppy number two is back with the breeder as he was not doing well either. We hope to get him back this weekend as my dh has placed his "blessing" on the retrieval of this puppy. He knows I am known for learning things the hard way - will I ever learn??? He is kind enough not to say I told you so, but it's in his eyes - yup I can see it. I think I cried for 3 days solid as Jasmine left us.

Workouts...will check my book and post later.

Briee

(sorry to hear about all the owwwwies up there - it's so hard to have little ones hurting) Autumn...I'm still praying for you.

Briee, so sorry to hear about the puppies.
Autumn, have you tried getting some books written for young children around death?

We have an offer on our house! But, a few days ago, my husband set our move-out date, so we will be out on July 18th no matter what happens. That gives me time to have the baby here (I'm banking on her being early since Max was! - what are my chances all of you repeat moms - if I was early once, will it happen again?!)

My hub starts his new job in 2 weeks, so he will be on the first plane back once the contractions start. I hope I have the baby 4th of July weekend. My mom will also be helping me out, so I won't be dealing with all of this on my own. The big blessing is that the new company is paying for our belongings to be packed up and transported, so I don't have to worry about packing!

Last week was an all time low for working out. I got in 2 whole workouts.

Mon- Energy Sprint
Fri- Low Max (1-6)

I am soooo tired, I actually don't want to work out, but it is nagging in the back of my head that it is supposed to help facilitate delivery and be beneficial for the baby. Oh, whoa is me!

Briee, since you declined to mention what actually happened to your doggie (I'm so sorry she died!), you only made me more curious. Please ignore me if I'm being annoying about the loss of your dog!

Briee--I'm sorry about your dog also. The first trimester is almost done and I can't wait. I don't remember being such a whiner beforex( :p .

Emy--congrats on the house. I think that moms tend to follow a pattern when it comes to whether you are an "early" or "late" person, but the key word is "tend". One just can't know for sure.

And the last month is sooo hard energywise. I think I just quit working out altogether about 1-2 weeks before Bardric was born. Don't be to hard on yourself. It'll all be over soon and you'll have that new sweet baby, the move will be over, and you can rest a bit.

My workouts
Mon-Viper
Tues-IMAX 3 step only premix, Low Max 1-4
Wed-MM upper body push/pull premix, All Step cardio only
Thurs-KPC
Fri-Body Fusion--so wiped out I thought I was going to die
Sat-IMAX 3-modified because I tire so easily:-(

I am gaining about a pound a week. I am unbelievably hungry. The good thing is that I am eating healthier this time than during any other 1st trimester, so I think that the weight gain will slow, once my nausea subsides. My goal is to gain 40 lbs or less.

take care all
Maggie:)
due 1-8-06

Emy, good luck moving. It is amazing how you are coping. i'd be a wreck.
Maggie, If your baby is born 2 days early it will be on my b-day, Jan. 6.

Emy....our puppy stopped eating and drinking and went hypoglycemic. She was only 1 pound and should not have left her mom yet, although she was 8 weeks old. She was the sweetest little girl, but had many problems on her first vet check. I knew the breeder was questionable, but was nearby and the price was right.....and I know better!!! The other puppy we took back is doing fine..his name is Rajah and we get him back today as my husband said "you better get him or we'll have one very sad 9 year old".....thus the blessing!! Hopefully all will go okay THIS TIME.

I'm so glad you get to stay and have baby, although we're gonna have to pray you through the "move with a new baby thing". Good thing you are young and in great shape!!!! I can't wait for the arrival....let us know the minute you into labor KAY?????

Briee

Shopaholic--since I have always delivered within 1-2 days of my due date, it's very possible that I will deliver on your birthday--cool:7

Maggie

We countered the offer we received and it was accepted! So I guess our house is sold (barring any financing probs of the buyers' part).

Anyway, I also wanted to "announce" that I am quitting exercising!
After doing Body Fusion on Monday for the first time (and not putting a whole lot of effort into it at that), I was sore in the popo for the whole rest of the day. I hobbled around like I could barely walk. I think it's my ligaments in that region. Anyway, I told my midwife, and she said why don't you just quit exercising. Yes! I just needed someone to tell me that! I feel free! - Am I crazy?

PS - Even though I just announced I'm not exercising, I saw an infomercial about something called the Trikke. It looks so fun. You guys need to check it out at www.trikke.com . Maybe I will get one so I can use it post baby. BTW, it is low impact.

Shopaholic, thank you for the suggestion. I also plan to talk with a child development expert I know from the college. Sydney is actually doing well considering.

BTW, my DH is a January 5 baby! He shares his birtday with my beloved grandmother. There are a couple of other shared birthdays between our families... his dad and I share a BD... his sister and my aunt. Kinda cool I think.

Emy...you go girl....this is one time in your life when you can QUIT EXERCISE, and we'll let you.:7 :7 :7 The Cathe police even excuse this!!!

This has positively been the worst month of exercise for me. Just too much going on. I feel like I'm "losing it", but I've been through this about a year ago and eventually made it through. I hate going through it though! I need some kind of new motivation I think.

My dh is juicing and is on day number 10 of his juice fast. He's gone through about 75 pounds of carrots...that's a lot of carrots!!
