jumpers knee

Has anyone here been diagnosed with Jumper's Knee? I was having pain in one knee, then it went to both. I saw the doctor about a year ago and they diagnosed it as jumper's knee. I used to play a lot of 2 on 2 volleyball several days a week and for hours on weekends. Basically the cartilidge is worn down under the knee cap and that causes the knee caps to shift when bending, pulling everything with it. I've done some PT and still doing Cathe's workouts through the issue (knees sound like velcro when bending). I'm a diehard. I wear knee straps. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem and what they may have found that works for them?
Thanks

i had the "runners" knee(from over-training) which i think is similar. lots of rest did it for me. i didn't really do any cardio excpet some power yoga and bellydancing(cardio effect but not really cardio per say). ice, heat, elavate rest. took a few weeks before the pain went away. it wasn't a constant pain, just when i went to workout either cardio or heavy weights(squats, lunges, etc).quite a numbing pain everytime i placed my foot on the step. i have a bummed knee from an accident anyway so i don't think that helped matters.

when i was resting i did pilates for lower body(side leg lifts and all that jazz)yoga, bellydancing, kept the upper body weights but just sat in a chair, and still did my abs.
