Good morning ladies....

Looks to be a really nice day here today...Not much planned for me. The kids and I have our weekly library visit today and I need to pop in Walmart or Target...

Workout for me today is a scheduled rest. But, I thought I might try and do an upper body weight workout since the rotation is for lower body. So, I was thinking of doing maybe a premix that does only upper body..

Ok, be back later!!

Hey ya Kathy!...

You should do a nice stretch or Pilates today! That's whats on my schedule!... As I said before, if it wasn't , i wouldn't do it. I won't know which one I'll do until I go gander at my DVDs. ... I know I have a good Kathy Smith Lower Body Pilates, but my legs are sore and not sure if I want to do that. Maybe I'll find a few Yogas to do together or perhaps tackle a Yoga DVD that blew me away and I never went back to it (Tracey Staehle's Yoga Solutions).

Yep, Hottie, I sure do know the feeling of being excited about running, and then have the weather sucking for it. My entire Spring was like that! ICK!

Oh yeah, yesterday DH took the boys to the bike shop and a few other stores. He came home and said it was HORRIBLE, that all they did was fight and WANT things. I'm like, "Uhh...honey, that's how the last 2 weeks of summer vacation has been, !!" He said, "Really?". Sucks, I'm telling ya. I know it's going to cost me a bundle , but they all want to do a 2 week day camp at the YMCA the last 2 weeks of August. I think I may let them do it ALL together! But then, i think, maybe I will miss them? Because after that, they'll be going to school. Am I nuts or what????

BBL!!!

Good morning!!! Yes, Paint It Black has to be the most unlikely step song ever. I will give the step from SJP another try one of these days, you guys.

Chris, is that a day camp, or a sleep away camp? The way you say you'd miss them makes me think sleep away. My boys never want to do that sort of thing -- only one night sleepovers.

You know what I did this morning? The Insanity preview disck -- plyo circuit, I think it was called. I think it has convinced me not to buy Insanity!!! It is really intense -- more HIIT-like than any dvd I've done, I suppose, but..... I think running with cc is a better bang for the buck. I don't know -- I get so tired of the repitition involved in BB workouts. Same drills repeated over and over, and then the last major drill I just didn't even want to do because it was basketball shots alternated with going down to the floor and doing pushups, and my heart rate made me just not want to get down on the floor in a horizontal position and then pop up again. So, the calorie burn for a half hour was in the low 200s, whereas for cc, it would have been over 300 for that amount of time. I think I will just be patient for shock cardio because like many things, I think Cathe will do it better.

I've got to get busy here.... gotta' get the kids out of the house soon and I haven't even showered yet.....

Ahhhhhhh!

Did some awesome stretching... I did do Tracey Staehle's Yoga solutions, 2 of the premixes: Post Running and Post cardio and then I did the Extended Stretch from STS , total 40 minutes. It did feel good on my tight legs, but I have this nagging feeling in my head that I want to do MORE, cardio perhaps? maybe I will at least do that Pilates for Lower Body.. Or not! Maybe just the pile of laundry I have waiting for me and playing something wtih the boys...

Thank you thank you THANK YOU, Beth, for reviewing Insanity!!!! As cool as it has sounded and as enthusiastic as people seem about it, I've had this feeling that I have STS Cardio on pre-order, and that THAT is what I'll end up liking. It's very similiar in that they're both high intensity cardios, but I KNOW Cathe will do it better and with more variety! So thank you for making my decision easier to NOT get Insanity. Hey, how did you get your hands on that one, anyways? Hey... How was your date night with hubby?? I want you to get me excited enough to call our old sitter up! LOL!...

Oh, and no, the camp is not overnights. It's 9a-4p Mon-Fri for 2 weeks with ONE overnight optional. See, I am nuts about thinking I'll miss them! I'm sure by Aug. I'll be done with the missing part! LOL!.

Today was SUPPOSED to be nice out, but is now cloudy and cool. This is YOUR weather in CA, Beth? I thought it was hot and sunny there ALWAYS?

off to see my laundry...

Chris, nice on the stretch! I love that stretched out feeling!!!

Insanity -- yep -- now, I just have to ignore all the posts about it so I don't get caught up in the hype and forget this feeling I had this morning! I signed up with Joan (joananan or whatever her login is here -- I'll let you know if you're interested) and she let me know they were sending it free with the purchase of a Tony one on one recovery for results disc. I bought it strictly for insanity.

California weather -- well, if you're near the coast, especially in Northern CA, it cools off quite a bit every night unless we're in a really crazy heat spell. In SF, the average temp is 65 year round -- it's pretty much the same every day of the year there. Larry was really worried about leaving that behind, but he's come to like the variety here and it's nice to be able to be outside in the early evening without freezing, which is what happens in SF. Basically, we are prepared with sweatshirts year round.....

You should definitely sign those boys up for that camp!!! :p ETA: think of the 4DS total body workouts you could do!!!

Forgot to comment on the date -- call Michelle! (that's funny -- that's the name of our new babysitter). It was nice, though I've gotta say, the way we did it maybe wasn't the greatest. The kids had the sport thing at school in the morning, so I stayed home and cleaned and then I went down to work at about 1:30, and we went to dinner after finishing the work day. Well, set up that way, it felt sort of more like going out to lunch together than a real date. But, we did eat some good sushi (your favorite, Chris, I know ;)) and then we stopped at a dessert place and ate too much! The guy talked me into getting a slice of banana cake and Larry whispered to me "they're just trying to get rid of it." It was like banana bread with cream cheese frosting -- pretty good, actually. :) Home before 8pm! Oh, bummer is, we got a parking ticket. We are so stupid! We do this every time we go down there in the evening -- you'd think we learn -- there is just no parking in the neighborhood in the evening. I don't know how people have guests!!!

-Beth

Hi ladies..

So, I ended up doing the upper body portion of Body Fusion today..It was a great workout..Only 20 minutes long and used the cord mostly. But, I feel it worked my muscles great!!

Beth: Sorry about that parking ticket!! Sounds like you had a nice evening though. Vic and I do those kind of dates alot. It is nice sometimes to just go out to eat without the kids...That cake sounds really really good...

Chris: I agree; sign them up for camp. Sounds like they would have fun. Lauren is doing a camp next week. A creative writing camp. I think she will really enjoy it. I did that extended STS stretch after plyo legs the other day. Great one!!

Hi ladies!!

Chris, that sounds like an awesome, relaxing workout!! I say send the kids to the camp! If they want go. You'll still have the evenings together. If you don't, you'll know there will be a day when they are all bored and fighting in the house and you say "I should have sent them to the camp!" ;) Seriously, it would probably be a good experience for them. Maybe you could do something for yourself a few of those days - shopping, see a movie you want to see (nothing animated!). How's that laundry going? ;)

Beth, oh, now you have me all confused!! I was really excited about Insanity! But, you're right, STS cardio will be great. The good thing is I can't order it till I get back from vacation, so I'll have a chance to see some more reviews before I order. The date sounds nice, even if it wasn't traditional! My DH will try to make anything into a date. He'll drive me to the train and since we're alone say, "does this count as a date?" Um, no! Trying to earn brownie points. ;)

We seem to be having that California weather - averaging around 65! It's usually in the 90s. I'm glad that I didn't sign the boys up for the water park field trip that the sports camp they are going to had. It was yesterday and it was the coldest July 8 in I think 118 years here in Chicago. I talked to one of the moms and she said it was just miserable.

Today was Turbo Jam Cardio Party 3. Fun, I haven't done one of those in awhile. I'm going to miss my DVDs while I'm on vacation. :( DH may actually leave Friday with the dog and one kid. He has to go fix something on the boat trailer which is in Indiana, so it makes no sense to come back home again. Me and three of the kids will meet them up at the cottages on Saturday. Silly me is thinking, oh good, I can get another workout in Saturday morning. And, the packing will be much more relaxed. DH tends to get a bit, say we say, cranky ;), when we're packing or getting ready to go somewhere. Now I can take my time and do it on my own.

BBL...

So we went to the park, I ran a little, even got to run up *MY* stairs by the duck pond (the boys were running them, i was chasing...LOL!). It was fun, but ended in mahem because Alex and Jake could NOT keep themselves behaved at the YMCA while i TRIED to sign them up for camp. So no camp for Alex, No swim lessons for Jake. Which sucks, because I want them to have both, but they broke the rules. Crap!

Beth: Oh that's cool you got the BeachBody deal there! I'm not so interested , I guess, because I don't really want Insanity so much. I was signed up with Jessjugs last time I knew too, but she doesn't really keep in touch. .... Interesting about SF weather! I just figured CA was all the same . I do know LA area is scorching most of the time, and dry. My niece lives in SF too. ... So it's supposed to get into the 40's tonight, IN JULY! Global warming baby!... Your date sounds fun, Beth (except for the sushi, blech!. It's funny the girls ordered sushi this weekend at work, raving how good it was. Blech! They also had me try Seaweed Salad, since they were RAVING about it. it was "ok" to me, but I probalby wouldn't order it again)! even though it felt like lunch to you! I guess I just need a night/dinner away from the kiddies. OMG..that banana bread sounds deLISH!

Kathy: Yes, I really liked STS Ext Stretch! ... I should do it more!

Joanne: LOVE CP3! I miss my cardio today! LOL!...OMg, I'm so bummed I cut that deal with the boys that if they didn't behave I would NOT sign them up. I'm totally screwed now, and you made it sound so nice to have them in camp! LOL!. Oh yeah, I'd be thinking the same thing about getting a workout in on Sat ! LOL!.. how long are you gone for? ... Hey did you ever watch the rest of The Bachelorette? I need to dish about it with ya!!!! Let me know!

Speaking of worthless/cheesy TV, I'm now getting psyched that Big Brother 11 is starting tonight! (in 20 minutes!!)...

Joanne, so funny about your hubby asking if the ride to the train is a date -- we always joke whenever we are alone together that it's a date, but it's just our little joke because it seems we have so little time together. Long before kids we used to carpool to work together and we just spent so much time alone together and I think we both really miss that -- the not doing anything special, but doing it together stuff.

I thought my 5k was Sunday, but it's Saturday. Hmmmm, we are going back to the friends' house with a pool tomorrow and everyone is staying for dinner -- that might not be so conducive. On the other hand, the race is later than my workouts ever are (starting at 8:30), and it's only a 5k. I'm sort of viewing it as a workout, but I would like to know if I can run any faster than I used to be able to. This is a lot of fuss for something I say I don't care that much about!! :)

Back to stir-frying pad thai......
