Joining You

Hi everyone!

I am happy to be joining the Fit Moms Pregnancy board! I am currently at 17 weeks and counting. DH and I are so excited. We are having the first ultrasound next Thursday.

I've kept up with my Cathe workouts at a reduced intensity level. I definitely get out of breath and my heartrate gets up much faster than it used to. So, I am just listening to my body and modifying when needed. Luckily all that first trimester nausea is now gone, but I really think my workouts made it more bearable.

can you tell me what you mean with the workouts making the nausea better? i am still in my first trimester, and the nausea is getting worse as i get farther along. did you just puch thru it? what about the fatigue?

congrats on being 17 wks! good luck with the ultrasound. i go for an early one on monday (8 wks) to see if there is more than 1:)

i am so excited. thanks for the info

Hi Morris.
I noticed that on the days I didn't exercise (I exercise in the mornings), my nausea was much worse than on the days that I did exercise. I was fatigued regardless of whether or not I exercised.

Good luck with your early u-sound. Are you anticipating more than one? That would be pretty cool.

Congratulations Linda! I remember when you got married - it doesn't seem so long ago.

I found that exercising eased my nausea also, but as soon as I stopped, the nausea would return.

I'm glad that you're feeling better.

Erica

we had a little injectable help to get my hormones and cycles going. thank fully it worked, but does bump up the chances of multiples. i am just so excited to be pregnant.

yesterday i ran and did some weights, and even though my day started off feeling bad, it definately helped. i think i will try again today. thanks for the info

Hi there--

I remember some time ago you were struggling with whether or not to have a baby and here you are!! Congratulations. Please join us on the moms to be thread if you feel inclined.

Boy the cardiovascular capacity really does decrease doesn't it? Although I am happy to report that it comes back quickly post partum. I asked my ob about this and he told me that for every breath I take, 25% of my oxygen goes to the baby and that was around 20 weeks. He says that this number increases throughout the pregnancy.

And do I ever feel it. I had to finally go down to a 4" step (and I've not been jumping because my lower back is a little tweaky) and I still feel worked out. At least my lifting has been almost normal.

take care
Maggie:)

Erica and Maggie, you both have good memories! I can't believe its been over 3 years since I was posting about getting married. And I think I posted about struggling to decide whether to have kids almost a year ago!

Maggie, I am impressed that your lifting is almost normal--I had to decrease my weights at about 13-14 weeks and I recently put my 20s and everything higher away for the rest of the pregnancy. No way can I use them anymore! I still have my barbell set the same for legs, but I would have gone down if I had the proper plates.

For the cardio, I decreased my step to 6" also at about 13-14 weeks and also cut out the jumping--my HR was just going too high. 25% is a lot of oxygen and I feel the effects dramatically. It's definitely for a good cause though : )

I will pop in on the moms to be thread soon!

Well, the important thing is that you are listening to your body. And I'll reassure you again (since I've been through this five times before) that your body will remember your former fitness levels rather quickly post partum. You'll be there again!!

Look forward to you posting on the moms to be thread.

Maggie:)
