"JOINING THE GROUP"

Hi to all you Cathe Fans! I am new and have thoroughly enjoyed finding this site. I teach aerobics in my area and have found over the past few years that I have to work so much harder at maintaining my weight. I am 47, in very good condition cardiovascularly and at one time several years back, got into strength training. It did great things for me as I battle 5-10 pounds always. I just bought my first 4 of Cathe's videos(MIS,MIC,INTERVAL MAX & STRONG LEGS & ABS.) I would appreciate any suggestions on losing that LAST 10 pounds and losing fat.(With bathing suit weather around the corner!!!) I try to eat good, but I do cheat somewhat. Maybe having all you new friends out there to help inspire me, I can stay better committed to what I eat. Thanks for all the caring you all seem to have--Cathe's thoughtfulness & genuine care for others must be CONTAGIOUS!! Looking forward to reading with you tons more!!

Nice to meet you! I will be watching this thread with interest since I am also battling those last 10 pounds and usually losing. . . Don't have any advice to offer but wanted to welcome you. Have you read Debra Waterhouse's book "Outsmarting the Mid-Life Fat Cell"?? --she makes it pretty clear that in perimenopause the body does start holding onto fat because fat either makes or stores estrogen, I forget which, so as your estrogen wanes you body tries to even it out by holding onto extra fat. You can circumvent this somewhat by adding phytoestrogens into your diet (soy products like tofu, soy milk, those crunchy little toasted soybean things, etc). I know I had Debra's book some time ago. I will try & see if it is still around here. Thanks for the advice on the phytoestrogens. I will give that a try and good luck to you also. Hopefully, someone will have several pointers for us! THANKS for the WELCOME also!!
