Jogglers October!!! 2011

chirp chirp

Today is a rest day. I will do a jog/walk tomorrow.

I had a lot of fun yesterday, we went up to Kirkwood and Caples Lake. I took a bunch of pictures.

See you gals tomorrow,

Alisha

I had a great 2 days with mom and my sisters. Mom's doctor appointment on Friday morning went well, then we headed up to Jacksonville for shopping! Mom did really well and went to at least 4 stores with us. She ended up taking a nap on Friday afternoon but went with us to dinner and shopping at night.

We got home late yesterday afternoon so no workouts for Friday and Saturday although I did do some walking. I didn't go too crazy on food. I ate more than what I'm used to but I didn't overeat.

This morning was a 12 mile run which went very well. Temperatures was cool and it was sunny so it was most beautiful.

Tricia ~ Welcome to the 50 club!!! I'm glad you got the dehydrator and that you had a great birthday. Saturday birthdays are the best.

Alisha ~ I loved your dream!! How funny! What did you have to eat before you went to bed? It can't be all bad with Matt Damon and George Clooney. I'm glad you had fun taking pictures. We have another month before the leaves turn here.

Hi ladies! Happy Monday!

Alisha - You had a nice relaxing weekend! How did your pictures come out? I bet they're beautiful!

Jane - Dinner and shopping sounds like a fun time! Glad your mom enjoyed herself!

I slept in today and took my time this morning doing stuff. That means I just finished my workout - literally! Did After Burn, one of the new low impact ones. OMG! Killer! Fast paced and my butt is going to hurt for the rest of the week!

Now, I have to decide on my week's menu and go shopping. I'm just going to do the regular shopping and I'll do my specialty stuff tomorrow - Whole Foods and the fish market for Stephen. I've been off the raw wagon this weekend pretty much for my birthday, but I did well last week except for Tuesday, of course. It's getting cooler up here and we won't turn the heat on until next month so cold breakfasts are getting tougher. I had scrambled egg whites and biscuits this morning with coffee. I know, I know. At least I used some spelt flour in the biscuits! I have a portabella mushroom and guac left from Friday for a stuffed mushroom lunch. I'm making chicken and dumplings today for dinner. Tomorrow, I'll make sure to have my raw breakfast and lunch and have some vegetarian chili tomorrow night, unless Stephen leaves some chicken and dumplings for leftovers tomorrow! lol He eats so much these days!

Well, I'm off to the showers and to make my grocery list!

See you tomorrow!

I did a 3 miler this morning. I'm retaining water and all puffy:( The scale noticed :( It might have been the reese's pieces. :eek:But, I enjoyed myself outside anyway. I'm going to do some yoga this afternoon. In my neighborhood, the hills are so hard that I still can't run all of it, I may try the C25k again and try to push through them starting on Wednesday and tack on another 30-40 min. of hiking to get me to my 60 min in THR mark (I try to aim for that.) Tomorrow will be Power Max. I'm playing with my rotation and incorporating the new discs. I've been reading about the others who have tried some of them, and it sounds like a really tough series. I'm starting to think that running is easier than Cathe.

Jane-That sounds like a fun day of shopping. I have to find a place where I can do 12 miles away from cars. I hate cars.

Tricia- Happy Birthday!!!!

Here's my workout for this evening. It is really nice outside today.

25 Swings
30 Push Press
50 Push ups

3 Rounds - 30/30
Battling Rope

50 Push ups
30 Push presses
25 Swings

3 Rounds - 30/30
H2H Swings

Tricia ~ I'm glad you had a great workout! I have been hearing that the new workouts out killer. Enjoy your day off. For some reason I can't keep my eyes open today.

Alisha ~ I run on the sidewalks except for a mile stretch (maybe less) that is on the street so I have no choice. I just get out really early in the morning so the traffic is light. I don't like running on the street.

Tricia- I like chicken n'dumplings! What if you just had vegetarian or vegan foods, with an emphasis on raw, rather than only raw foods? Would that be more do-able? I often find myself eating vegetarian meals, especially away from home. I don't trust commercial meats/chickens to be anything but packed with antibiotics. Those mess up my insides.

Jane- I'm starting to resent cars. I would like to live close to the river in town and just ride my bike to work or work from home (betwixt jobs right now.) That way I could completely avoid them, except on fun road trips to national parks and to visit family.

I missed yoga last night, I had to pick my Mom up from work. I tried Slide n' Glide this morning. It was really fun. I think it would be a perfect add on to a jog/walk interval set. The cardio portion was just too short to cut it for me, I think I only burned 200 cal. Thats not enough, I will get very wide if I don't do more.;) I plan to catch that yoga disc this afternoon, its supposed to be for 'stress reduction'. I plan to spend the day studying so that I can be a whizz with the office skills, get myself some temp work, convince them I'm spectacular, pay for law school, and then be financially successful. See? I have a plan:cool:

I just didn't have the time for that yoga disc. I will do it this morning after my jog. My Garmin has to charge for a half hour before I go out. I have Harry Potter club this evening. We will be discussing our big trip in February to Whimsic Alley in LA for the 3 day adult wizarding conference.

Tricia- Did you get a workout today?

Jane- Is your energy back today or are you still tired?

Alisha

I took a rest day yesterday.

Here is my workout for tonight.

300 Workout
25 pull ups
50 deadlifts
50 push ups
50 weighted step ups
50 floor wipers
50 clean and press
25 pull ups

Alisha ~ I took a rest on Tuesday and feel more rested. I did not get much sleep this weekend. Tell me about this wizarding conference. It sounds interesting.

Hi Tricia!!

Here is a link to the shop in Los Angeles. Just scroll down the page and there is a description of the 'adult wizarding' weekend in February.

I took today as a rest day. I was in a class about how to deal with conflict in the work place. I learned a technique I plan to use on my Dad. He will never know what hit him;) Tomorrow will be one of the Low Impact Series, probably the step workout.

Jane- That looks like a great workout.

Alisha

TGIF,

Here is my workout from last night. This took me longer than usual because the neighbor kids from across the street were outside telling me about their cat Sheba who sleeps in the front of my house, their dog Sami and the oranges on our orange tree. They are cute kids.

3 Rounds of:
200m Run
20 Swings
10 Push ups
Rest
3 Rounds of:
200m Run
20 Jump Squats
10 Presses
Then
20 Russian Twists
20 Weighted Sit ups
20 Slasher to Halos

I'm taking a rest day as I have a 10.2K tomorrow morning. The race starts at 7:30am and I have over an hour drive to get there so it will be an early morning. I did this race last year and loved it. It is in a small town in the middle of nowhere but they are having their annual Chicken Pie Festival. It's a small race so I think I may place in my age group. Based on last year's race, I should take first place but we'll see.

Alisha ~ Thanks for the link of the adult wizarding workshop. I will check it out. The conflict in the workplace class was probably really helpful.

Hi Tricia!

I'm going to try the new Low Impact Series Step Challenge workout then Cathe's new Yoga Relax dvd. I think I caught a cold on Wednesday at book club. I'm stuffed up and I feel wretched. I took 4 ibuprofens, an airborne, and a hot cup of green tea. I'm going to nap a while before I do my workouts. I still like to get some cardio during a cold because it seems to clear out my face.

Jane- That looks like a great workout. I feel like I tell you that a lot, but I really mean every time! Just you watch, eventually Sheba will think she lives with you. Ooh, chicken pie sounds tasty! Maybe I will make a batch of chicken n' dumplings for lunch today!

Tricia- ??? You here??? <<<chirp, chirp>>>>

Alisha

Sorry ladies!

I've been rather distracted lately! Guess these new workouts and sprouting and dehydrating have had my head elsewhere!

Alisha - I hope your cold is getting better!

Jane - You're just a workout rockstar and I need a retreat with you so maybe some of that will rub off on me! ;)

I"ve enjoyed the new workouts, but I realized I've only done 2 and a half! After Burn is totally awesome! Yoga Relax is great! I can make it all the way through that one even with my horrible flexibility! Yay!

I tried Low Impact Challenge last night after work and made it through the first couple of combos without too much trouble other than a distracting beagle who couldn't decide whether she wanted to be inside or outside, then I had to pick her up and put her on the couch because she kept freaking out when I'd step to the floor. I got completely frustrated after that at about the halfway mark in the workout because all of a sudden, Cathe seemed to stop cuing the steps in advance of the move and cuing it as she did it and I was totally lost! I gave up on it. Just the whole distraction by Peanut who usually isn't that bad and then the cuing of a whole set of moves as you go made me throw up my hands! I'm sure when I can gather my focus better on a down beagle day I'll get it with less difficulty!

Not sure what I'm going to do today, but I also got my new BBX Hardcore program in the mail on Thursday and I started checking that all out and previewing the DVDs to make sure everything played and how they looked. Everything checks out and I start on Tuesday with it. Very excited about this one! No equipment other than a mat. Of course, towel and water, too! lol

I ran through all your posts from the last few days to catch up! I'm with you Alisha about cars. I almost got hit by a woman in her SUV on the highway yesterday. She has no clue that the merging lane is supposed to YIELD to the moving traffic and almost shoved me into the left lane and another car! Then she had the gall to try and get my attention by honking at me down the road to pretty much "tell" me that I was wrong! I don't understand why people up here can't figure out how to merge into traffic. I think it's a "my car is bigger than yours" mindset up here and it really pisses me off!

I could ride my bike to work. It only takes about a half hour by bike to go around 8 miles or so, maybe a little longer by the bike path, but not in the winter! And I like getting home sooner for my workouts in the evenings!

Anyway, that's what's going on here! I'll try to be more diligent about getting here daily! If it's any consolation, I also forgot to take my birth control 3 days in a row this week! Yikes! Don't know what happened there!

Enjoy your weekend! I'll be spending mine trying to stay warm and praying we don't get the snow they're saying we'll be getting today/tonight!

I did 4 miles this morning, jog/walk. I'm going to do Cardio Supersets tomorrow. I'm feeling fat so I'm going to be super good tomorrow. I'm making eggplant, asparagus, artichokes, and I'm going to boil some eggs. I feel virtuous already;)

Tricia- My cold is mostly better, just a sore throat. I am loving the new workouts but I also found the Low Impact Step Challenge to be hard to follow, I am glad I tried it without risers because I would have twisted an ankle:eek: Your car encounter is a lot like what I get around here. My car isn't bigger but it is a low rider ;):p I hate missing my BC because it messes with my head.

Snow???? Holy Cow! Its not even Halloween yet!:confused::confused::confused:

Jane- I know that you had an awesome workout, I can feel it in the force, I sense lots of sweating!:D:p

Hi Alisha! Crappy weekend so far.

Glad your cold is better! I think everyone has had trouble with LIC. That's too bad. Cathe is usually immaculate with her cuing. Not sure what happened with this one. Luckily, we only got about an inch and it should be gone by noon, but it's still pretty darn cold for this time of year!

I agree with you! Jane is probably out there kicking out butts with her awesome workouts! lol

Didn't sleep hardly at all last night. Watched Halloween H2O and the first Halloween movies, then a little bit of Chicago and tried to get a little sleep around 4:30 or so, but was up and down with the pups and kitty until about 6. Slept downstairs.

Really tired today and probably won't do anything or go out. I may not even take a bath. :( Feeling very bummed out today. Husband decided to fix the porch light that got broken and replace a couple of light switches. After that, he went to replace a light fixture in the bathroom that has never been great, but it works. Well, nothing worked. For 5 hours, he kept turning the power off and on so he could work on it. By the time he was done, even the old one quit working. He killed something in trying to fix it. The beeping of all the electronics going on and off all afternoon and night had the pups totally freaked out.

He got mad at me for not taking care of the pups, but he never said they were upstairs getting in trouble. Of course, it was still my fault. I apologized for not being psychic or being able to see through walls and read minds and told him next time to tell me what he wanted. Ruined my night. Now, I just feel useless, inadequate and ready to just give up. I always go overboard emotionally when s**t happens. So, here I sit. Just going through the motions today. I'll get over it eventually. Maybe after a good workout tomorrow after work.

Hope you two had a much better weekend than I did! :D

Tricia- Awww!!! That totally sux. I hope that your workout is better later today.

I did Cardio Supersets this morning. It was a lot of fun. I didn't do all those push up thingys. I hate push ups. Bleh. But, I just did more running mans on my discs. I haven't used the word 'disc' much since the 1990s, back when the floppy disk was the thing to move files around on a computer.:p But, here it is 2011, nearly 2012, and I'm saying it everyday now. Tomorrow will be 4DS HIS/LIS double cardio premix. I made banana raisin walnut bread this morning. I also made some hard boiled eggs. I'm being good. I have my eggplant to cook for lunch, I'm leaning towards the tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese on top, like it was a pizza.

Jane- I get the feeling that you are having fun today! Say high to your Mom.

Alisha

Hi Everyone!

I had a busy, busy weekend. I was up at 4:30am on Saturday morning to drive about an hour and half to tiny Smithville, GA for the Chicken Pie Festival 10.2K. It was in the 50's but there were gusts of 20mph that made it seen colder. When I hit the turnaround, the wind was in my face. Yikes!!! It was a small race so I ran most of it alone on a country road with just a couple of horses and a crowing rooster or two. I was so happy to see the finish line. I got 1st place in my age group but I was the only one in it.

I didn't get home until after 11 and then it lunch, and cookie making for my sister's bake sale in mid-November. We made Raisin Pecan Oatmeal Cookies. They were very good! I did some cleaning and that was it. I was in bed by 8:30 and asleep my 9pm. What an exciting life.

I got up at 7:00am this morning and out the door by 8 for a 6.5 mile run. Then showered and went to mom's and hung out with her until 3 pm or so. I'm tired now.

Alisha ~ I hope you're feeling better. I'm glad you had fun with Cardio Supersets. I make a dozen hard boiled eggs every week. I'm glad you're being good.

Tricia ~ I hope you're feeling better this evening. I'm sorry about all the stuff that happened. I hope it's better now. Yes...a good workout will blow all the stuff away so get at it tomorrow. I hope you have a better Monday.

Take care you too!

Happy Halloween!!

Jane- That was a very exciting weekend, I bet those cookies are yummy!

Tricia- Did your workout help you feel better? Try making a smoothy, it may help you feel better.

I'm going to do 4DS LIS/HIS this morning. I was a bit hungry and had a headache first thing, so I ate some sushi and I will wait to workout until 11, I don't like to workout with food in my tummy. Tomorrow will be Athletic Training. There will be a new thread tomorrow.

I'm not dressing up for Halloween unless you count putting on my workout clothes and going as Cathe.:p

Alisha

I am checking in a day late but here is my Halloween Workout. We had no kids at our door tonight but one stray dog that was distracting. He was a sweet, sweet dog but I had to be careful to swing around him. Afterwards we tried to steer him home (we thought we knew where he lived) but he had other plans. We ended up walking to the home we think he belonged to but no one was home. Two other girls found him and he came to our house and wimpered at the door so they thought he was ours. They tried to take him to the house that we went to so I don't know what happened.

I liked this workout but will change the work/rest ratio to make it harder.

35 seconds work/15 seconds rest - 3 sets of each group
Swings/Suitcase Deadlifts
Pullover sit ups/ Presses
Swings/Triple Crush
Push ups/Back Rows

Then - 20 seconds work/15 seconds rest - 4 rounds of each
Walking alternating presses
Swings

Alisha - I bet you made a great Cathe!!

The cookies were good but I only had 1/2 one.
