Jari Love's Ripped 1000

I rented Ripped 1000 from Netflix and I really enjoyed the vidio.....and I was wondering if the other Ripped vidios had more back work...1000 felt like more of a leg workout with shoulders thrown in to keep the heart rate up. I didn't see any of her other workouts for rent and was thinking of buying one of her other workouts...but I would like a little more upper body. Does anybody know about these workout? Would love to hear what you think. Thanks, Repo

Ripped and Chiseled (which is fresh on my mind because I recently did it) has a good amount of upper body work, including back. Slim and Lean does also, but for some reason I like R&C better. They're very similiar so you don't need both. All of her workouts are nicely chaptered so it's easy to skip over legs if you don't want to work them.

i have all her ripped workouts and enjoy every one. my heart rate gets up high so i sometimes use it in place of cardio.(especially when i have a headach) ripped and chisled includes high rep pullovers, scull scrushers and hammer curls. chest on slim and lean uses a flat bench for chest.r&chisled incline bench. my tricepts were very sore for a couple of days after s&lean.

i'd choose ripped and chiseled because it has 2-3 exercises per body part. most of the exersizes in s&l have just one exercise

example:r&c back rows and pullovers
s&l back rows

i still alternate between the two.

You should check out reviews of her workouts at CollageVideo.com. People there are very critical and will tell you which you should buy and which to leave alone.

I have been doing Jari exclusively for the last couple of weeks, trying to see if the high-rep lower weight type workouts will work for me. I just got Ripped & Chiseled in the mail yesterday, so I haven't tried it out yet, but I do have the four others. I would say my favorite is Slim & Lean (just did it yesterday!), followed by the original Ripped, the 1000, and To the Core, which contains mainly compound exercises, some of which I found awkward. That one also has a near complete absence of tricep work, which is a little annoying. The only real complaint I have with her workouts is the barely-there ab work. I don't think she holds any ab movements longer than 16 counts. It isn't terrible, but I usually tend to pop out the DVD and finish with a Cathe ab section at the end of the workout.

Other than that, I'm a pretty big fan. Some people find the workouts boring, but I find them soothing and my muscles always end up feeling nice and worked, but without that dread factor that some weight workouts tend to have.

Oh, also, I was thinking more about this thread and it's interesting that you came away from the one workout kind of thinking that she focuses on lower body. I find myself thinking the opposite and thinking she could use a bit more lower body in there, and that her forte is upper body work. It certainly isn't abs. :p

Hi Repo!

I've got to say I really love Jari's workouts a lot. I started with her Ripped 1000 and was amazed at how challenging that was. I'm a diehard Cathe fan so I'm usually reluctant to even try anyone else's workouts. After trying and liking Ripped 1000 I eventually bought all the other Jari workouts. There all good - absolutely. I would definitely agree with JudeGirl though, that she tends to go light on abs. She's always saying stuff about tightening your core during any given exercise but that's really not the same as a good ab routine in my opinion anyway. I like Ripped & Chiseled the best I think, but to introduce yourself to Jari and her style I think I would go with the first Ripped workout. I believe it's called simply Ripped. You can check with Collage Video. I like that one because it's just a tad easier than the rest. Hope this helped you!

My opinions on Jari's workouts, since I have them all:

The original - set and music is different than the rest, Jari is more relaxed. A bit easier than the others with fewer reps, so need to heavy up a bit. But completely a non-dread workout.

Ripped Slim and Lean - A dread workout. Loads of reps. It's probably good for me but not motivating. Dark set, noticibly bad music.

Ripped to the Core - compound work. That means legs are worked quite a bit. Brighter outfits, slighty better music than S&L. Tough!

Ripped 1000 - cardio, compound weight work circuit. Basic, don't have to think cardio, but need to like fast foot moves. More compound work so lower body gets hit pretty hard (but not as much as RTTC) - very lacking in tricep work. Goes pretty fast because of the variety.

Ripped and Chiseled - superset work. A bit light on lower body work. Multiple exercises back-to-back for each muscle group. The banter and Jari herself are more relaxed. Overall, more enjoyable than S&L, RTTC, and R1000. Beware and don't go to heavy on the biceps at the end!

None of Jari's workouts have ab work that I'd write home about. I don't take the breaks she does between ab exercises and that makes it tougher.

HTH,

Diane

Thanks everybody for your input....I think I'm going to get the Ripped and Chiseled....I just need something for those days I don't want to lift real heavy...I tend to get big so I try to mix in lighter weeks but I don't want to lose too much strength. Thanks again for all your help, Repo
