Beth: Sounds like some storms!! No power in the middle of a shower. Yikes!!

Chris: That dinner sounded yummy. I have never made that...

Joanne: HOw is Caitlyn doing?

I need to go back and read..Can't remember what else to respond to.

Hey Everyone...

I did Cardio Core Circuit a bit ago. I did it the premix way. First the cardio only premix and then the core conditioning only premix. The cardio was HARD doing it all together, but not harder than any of the HiiTs. I think it was mentioned somewhere (here?) that this should really have been ON the HiiT DVD. It certainly qualifies! I did like doing the core stuff alone. In fact, the last 2 exercises, I rewound and did them over, because I missed a few reps trying to figure out the move. I liked being able to concentrate more on THE move itself.

Kathy: Butts and Guts! A goodie! That was always one of my favorite workouts. Again, haven't done it in forever, esp. in it's entirety. That Barbecue Chicken Pull ended up being OUT OF THIS world good! I love thighs anyways, but this was sooooo good. I did ad lib on the sauce a bit, since I didn't have everything exactly. (I added liquid smoke because I didnt' have smoked paprika and I ended up not having the can of chilis, so I added a sprinkling of Red Pepper Flakes). It was sooooooo good .

Hottie: That is a sweet story about you and Joe. I mean, esp since you ended up staying out there for "love" . that is funny about Evee's tongue length. Dogs are funny, aren't they?

Beth: Hope you guys are doing ok with that wicked storm out there. Keep warm and dry!!

Got a busy-ish kind of day today. Going to get my haircut (WAY overdue) and stop for some stuff at Walmart. Theyr'e coming with the dishwasher today. But Greg is home, so he's hanging around. Can not WAIT for it. Washing all that silverware by hand has gotten VERY old!

Good morning! I'm feeling so out of it and cut off. Our power is still out -- we've passed the 24 hour mark. When it goes beyond 48 hours, they hand out $50 checks to cover lost groceries. I still have two of those checks in my purse to deposit from the last storm! (we have two meters, it wasn't out twice for more than 48 hours). Personally, I'd rather not get the checks this time.....

so, no workout this morning, but it's a rest day anyway, and I really enjoyed laying in bed!

I'm way behind on posts -- the chicken recipe sounds good, though I didn't see the recipe -- did you post it? When you described your workout, Chris, I read it that you did all of CCC and then repeated the cardio premix -- I re-read and got the right story. I like that idea!! I think said it should be on the hiit dvd. :)

Oh, so going to pick up the kids yesterday, as soon as I got on the freeway it was a parking lot -- people had engines turned off, etc. I had a feeling it was a mudslide, so I called someone at work to confirm, and yes, both lanes closed! I was stuck -- close enough to the mudslide that I couldn't even try to get off and go around, which would have taken a long time anyway. Well, they eventually opened it and I actually made it to school not too too late to pick up the kids. Crazy! I had a feeling I shouldn't have gone down to work yesterday!

And, I heard at school this morning that a tree feel on the house of a family we know. I don't know if that's related to the power outage or not. At least we don't have that problem! But a branch did break and fall onto one of our water/fire hydrant things outside and the water was spewing up into the rain when we got home. We haven't gone out into the woods, but we need to -- our water system is insane -- pvc pipes going through woods wear branches fall all year long -- we've had to do a few repairs over the years.

Chris, yea for the dishwasher!!! I thought about you last night as I was washing my dishes by hand. I put them in the dishwasher as a drying rack.

Ok, I need to get caught up..... thanks for indulging me all the storm stories!!

Hi everyone!! Quiet here so far today...

Hottie, cute story about you and Joe! DH and I met in college. He sat next to me in Math class. I found out later that he was actually with his girlfriend at the time. Well, "girlfriend" may have been stretching it a bit ;). But, they sat behind me and one day he came down and sat next to me. He asked me where I lived (in the dorms at that time). Boy, I must have been naive or too trusting, but I told him. He showed up that evening with a bottle of champagne. The rest is history... So, how did everyone else meet? - this is fun!!

Chris, yeah on the dishwasher coming!! Did the boys help with washing the dishes at all? That's a great way to do CCC - I'll try it like that next time. I'm sooo overdue for a haircut, too. And, a color. Maybe I can sneak it in Saturday. Oh, I really want to try that chicken! Who has smoked paprika in their cabinet anyway??? I've never even heard of it.

Kathy, Caitlyn is doing fine. Although last night her face got really puffy, mostly around her eyes. I don't know if it was a reaction to the antibiotic, or what. DH doesn't think it was, but I convinced him to call the doctor before giving her another dose. I can't imagine what else could have caused it. And, now, this morning Ian has a sore throat. No fever. We kept him home just in case it's strep. The doctor said she would call in a prescription if any of the other kids had symptoms. I love B&G's too! Probably one of my favorite Cathes.

Beth, oh, so sorry to hear about the power still being out. The whole situation sounds horrible. I heard about possible mudslides on the radio this morning and maybe having to evacuate people. Don't remember exactly where that was though. Stay safe!

I woke up this morning feeling like crap. Headache, tired, ick! I couldn't face STS legs. I tried to go back to sleep for an hour, that didn't work, so I got up and did laundry. I made myself go workout at the fitness center here and did an itread for 30 minutes. Felt great afterwards!! So, at least I did something today. I'll tackle Legs tomorrow.

Joanne

Beth: Do you have alot of food that will go bad? That is great you get a check. When we lived in Florida we were without power for about 4 days or so after a hurricane and we didn't get anything!! Oh yuck on those storm stories!!

Chris: I have only done CCC once. Gotta pull it out again and do it. I like the way you did it. Sounds tougher!!

Joanne: Oh I hope your other kids don't end up with strep too..Hope your house heals!! Good job doing a workout when not feeling good....

Ok, my lower body is feeling the after effects of B&G....I know I will be experiencing some DOMS tomorrow and I have Low Max scheduled. I may change my mind if I have severe DOMS...

What a late day! I didn't get much sleep last night (again) so I stayed in bed until I did. I only got an hour but it was a much needed hour. No point on going through the jammed freeway in the rain but I nixed my original workout (LIC) because of time. I was pretty sad because I wanted to dedicate over an hour to a circuit but I'm glad I didn't. I put in Step Moves and man, did it work! Smiling and sweating, it was a really nice steady state workout. Now showered (on purpose not by the rain) and at lab thinking how I'm physically capable of getting everything done before i need to pick up Joe...I think he's going to have to wait a bit today.

Kathy -- I did B&G and Lowmax back to back once and i think that's when I learned of my broken butt syndrome! Are you going to get any of the Rykas?

Chris -- you guys wouldn't believe the story of how we got together. Everyone thinks we're making the stuff up. One day when I really don't want to do science maybe I'll write it all down. Cardio Core is insane!! Yay on dishwasher!

Beth -- I'm so sorry you still don't have power. Do you get your check through your homeowner's insurance? Mudslides freak me out completely ever since that really terrible one happened in Santa Barbara a couple years back. Is your house near mudslide scary places or is it just the freeway? The rain keeps on coming down over here. i'm just happy it's not too windy just straight rain. And no leaks in my house yet and we still have hot water because of the "modifications" Joe and I did the water heater enclosure. how to branches affect the pvc piping? I have to say its so much easier to deal with PVC than the old kind of metal piping....

Joanne -- I'm so happy that caitlyn is feeling better! Getting picked up in math class, eh? That sounds something very much that would happen at my school...if we ever went to math class. I felt so much better after I got my body moving too! Isn't weird that once you cross that threshold you can turn Ick to Sweet?

Oh, I finally saw some relief on the scale. I needed something like that. It's small but I'm taking it. That said, I've been contemplating going to togos for the last 15 minutes for lunch!

Joanne, I liked the story of you how you met! Larry and I met at work -- he came into my cubicle and introduced himself with a handshake -- no one ever does that at work! So, I noticed him. Mind you -- he is not at all about protocol and manners -- it's so funny it happened that way!

Hottie, the checks come from PG&E -- that's why they have some incentive to get people going again before the 48 hour mark passes. I was wondering how hard these storms hit them financially -- the lost revenue, the refunds, but mostly the time and half they must have to pay everyone to work through the night.

We have a spring box and pipes that bring the water to our numerous giant water tanks (complete with sand filter and ozonator). The pipes are actually above ground in a lot of places, so the trees fall and they break. Yes, it's sort of easy enough to fix unless you are trying to do it in the rain and semi-darkness, as we had to do one time. It's also a ways from the house, so after the first time of making a few trips back for other tools, Larry bought a little Rhino -- what are those things called? -- one of those little vehicles that goes off-road.

Joanne, I hope strep throat isn't spreading at your house!!!

Kathy, I meant to comment..... it seems like so many times I have had low max scheduled right after a leg-intensive day, and I think that's actually one of the reasons I grew to really dread low max.

Oh, and we shouldn't have any mudslides on our property.... on our road, that's another matter! Wow, the potholes are getting huge, too! I think it's going to be a while for the area to recover from this storm.

I'm slowly feeling like I'm sort of getting back into the swing of things.....

Hey Girls..

Got the dishwasher in, YAY! Got my hairs cut! YAY! Although the dishwasher guy came 2 hours after he said he'd be here. He begged us to put down he came on time on the survey they send. Should I? Hmmmm...not sure.

Beth: That sucks big time about your power. What's the longest you've been without it? Didn't you say you had a generator? what runs on it, everything? ... At least it was your rest day today. ... Mudslides have got to be scary! The highway sounds like a total nightmare. I think you need a meditation???... You guys have good "how I met my hubby" stories! Love hearing them!

I met Greg at a local bar (Polish Club), a hangout I used to go with my friends because we knew the bartender and he'd give us free drinks !! We were there , getting our "pre drunk" on, before we went out to the dance club, and Greg was there. (I was around 23, graduated from college at the time). He knew the bartender too!... I looked across the bar, and said , "Who's that cute Polish boy?" and next thing I knew my friend was talking to him and calling me over! LOL!! ... Not as "nice" as you girls were, I guess :p

Joanne: Sorry you woke up icky. I hate icky feeling!! Esp. headaches!. I would NOT have done STS legs either (or any leg workout). But running always makes me feel happy, glad it made you feel better too!... Oh, the boys did NOT help wash dishes. We tried that for a while (Zach) and the dishes were always dirty. Or soapy. And he complained. It wasn't a good thing! Greg, actually, does all the supper dishes. LOVE that! ... Hope Ian doesn't have strep! You got Caitlyn treated pretty quickly, but you never know.

Kathy: WTG on B&Gs!!! I remember last time I did a leg workout , and I was SOOOO sore after the workout, I wasn't bad for DOMS the next day. It was weird. Speaking of.... My legs are just a little sore from yesterdays workout. It amazes me, because they were ON FIRE during the L&G's floorwork!

Hottie:
Step Moves is a goodie! I need to do a step workout soon, I'm having withdrawal. COOL deal on the scale!! That always feels good!

now to figure out supper... (Oh, Beth, I did post the Chicken Pull recipe yesterday, and I put it on FB too!). I think I'm going to do Meatloaf (turkey), and mashed potatoes for the boys. I read a good sounding recipe in Prevention yesterday. It was one of Terri Hatchers favorite dishes. You cook onion and garlic in olive oil until really soft/almost carmelized , and then add sweet potato, continue cooking until carmelized. Doesn't that sound good???

Chris, mmmm, I'm going to have to create a file of "Boingo" recipes!! :) That sweet potato thing sounds yummy. I've got the pulled chicken planned for next week. Mmmm, maybe with a side of sweet potatoes? Yeah for the dishwasher and the "hairs"! :) Too funny - we have the kids rinse the dishes and load the dishwasher every night. We left Colin alone one night - came back and the almost full bottle of dish soap was more than half way gone. He was using so much soap - the bubbles were almost overflowing in the sink. So, did you hang out with Greg at the bar that night or continue on with your friends to the dance club? ;)

Beth, that's funny about the handshake. He was probably nervous!

Hottie, sometimes that extra hour can make all the difference. That's what I was trying for this morning, but it wasn't working. I love Step Works! Especially the 2nd time I did it when I wasn't falling all over myself. I know, I have to remind myself when I feel cruddy that I workout will most likely make me feel much better. Good job on the scale!!! Did you get Togos? Yesterday I had such a craving for a Potbelly's sandwich - I splurged and got one. It was yummy!

Kathy, LowMax after B&G would be tough! If anyone can do it, though, you can!

Ugh...kind of miffed at DH. He was supposed to call the doctor this morning to see if he could get a prescription for Ian and ask about Caitlyn's reaction. I called him twice to remind him - no answer on the phone. I just called to make sure he was awake to get the kids and he says "you were supposed to call and wake me up to call the doctor". UGH!

One more hour....

OMG, Joanne. SO what my DH would do! (Not sure if you remembered I called him to wake him up to go get a sick Zach at school, while i was in a class for work and he DIDN'T WAKE UP!!!!!!)

You guys are funny!!! Guess what?! We finally have power!!! I used my oven and I'm doing my second load of laundry. I keep turning on lights -- it's heaven!!! :p I think the storm has sort of moved on..... Hottie, I think you're getting it -- my mom called just now and said it's bad down there.

We got our propane fill tonight -- $1600 and some!!! Ug! They are totally ripping us off. Larry's going to call them tomorrow and tell them to come back and pick up their propane because we cannot afford their rates.

Oh, the generator.... yes, we have one, but whereas most people have it hooked into their wiring and they can use almost everything as if they had electricity, ours is not and we have to pull in an extension cord and use just a few things at a time -- usually that's the fridge, a light, and Larry's computer! Or, we're recharging flashlights or cell phones! And once in a while the coffee machine gets powered. That's what it's like here.

Those recipes sound great -- I'll look on fb -- haven't been there in days.

Back and chest for me tomorrow.... ciao.....
