Hello! I am definitely having a more upbeat day since my internet came back. So, I think my worst was mid-August of 2007. Didn't start Cathe until the end of 07-beginning of 08 but that's what I started counting calories (blech!) and dedicating more effort to working out. So, 8.5 inches in slightly over 15 months. In poundage, that's 45 lbs. Yay!
So, I have mixed but mostly positive feelings about the kickboxing class I went to. I'm so lame -- I specifically went front and center so I wouldn't run away when things got hard. I cramped up twice...one I was really quick to stop and massage it out the other was in my right quad and it still twinges a bit. It's a bit of a circuit workout the way the to the point of being annoying upbeat UNDERGRADUATE SENIOR taught the class which I liked. I had to modify and i felt really stupid because I realized walking onto the rather slippery studio floor that, "crap, I shouldn't have my running shoes on." If I go next time, I'll bring in better shoes so I don't slip around as much. Tomorrow they have a muscle conditioning class that I'd like to try.
I'm also happy because that undergraduate student that I had in fall has really warmed up to me. I had asked to her to not come in last term because I felt like she had too many responsibilities and I didn't want her to half-a$$ her post here and also not get good grades. She came back and worked with me in the break and I was really happy with how much she retained and how quickly she's picking up some stuff. And she's opening up and laughing and even making jokes with (and at) me sometimes. I don't think she realizes how happy that makes me when I show her new things.
Well, Beth and I do get spoiled with the weather (though I didn't like it being 85-88 for the last two days). Today's perfect though. The transporting of the snow made me nostalgic though...when I was an undergraduate at Caltech, every February a bunch of students from my House (think co-ed frat) would take a uhaul up to the mountains at 2a, fill it up with snow, and then bring it back to campus, dump it on the lawn in front of the faculty club, and we'd have a snowball fight. I just made tickets to NJ over president's day so hopefully there's snow for my nieces and me to play in.
I don't think there's anything else other than OWWWIE on the way CLX sounds like. And Beth -- I'm not sure if you get it up north like we do here, but I am personally dreading that 2-3 week nonstop rain we get February (mostly because no one out here knows how to drive in it!). I know we need to heal the drought, but ehhh...driving in LA in the rain...blehhh....
Ok, I'm actually going ot take a walk and get some sun....
