Hi Ladies,
Not that I ever doubted the consept of muscle weighing more then fat,(or to put it nicer)the worked muscle weighing more then the unworked muscle:)
I went shopping yesterday earlier with my sister-in-law.I always thought that I looked bigger then her, just b/c she is taller then me and weighs the same.In the earlier years she weighed less.We bought some clothing at a store, where all the sizes are the same. Her mom bought her a pair of pants for christmas and they were a 9.My hubby bought me a pair of pants that were to big and they were a 5.I went back to the store yesterday to exchange them.I ended up trying on 5's again and they were a little to big.I needed a 3!:)
When we were at my in-laws later, I said ,those are nice pants you have on.And she said, yeah they are exactly like the ones I got for you but yours were a 5 and were to big and these are a 9 and fit me just right. Then she told me that she was 130lbs.Well, I am only a couple of lbs less then her AND I am 3 inches shorter.
Isn't it weird how we compare ourselves to others.Just b/c I person weighs less doesn't mean their smaller.
I guess it is true,we should go by the way we feel in our clothing then what the scale says.
Just wanted to share,
Lori

I think that weight is such a delicate issue that we focus weigh (no pun!) too much time on it and not enough on attaining a healthy body composition (fat to lean mass ratio). It seems to me you are not only healthy but have a very healthy lean to fat ratio and should be very proud. Feels good dunnit!

It's actually more accurate to state that muscle is DENSER than fat. A pound of muscle weighs just as much as a pound of fat, or feathers, or Reese's peanut butter cups }( , but the muscle is far more compact and takes up less space . . . not to mention is more defined.

Anyone who knows me for five minutes knows that I care precisely zero for what I weigh. And that's why.

What AJock said! Next time you are in the grocery store check out the size of a 3 lb lean steak compared to the size of a 3 lb can of Crisco (FAT). The fat is MUCH bigger than the steak.

Lori I understand your elation! You should be very proud of all you've accomplished! I'm the same size I was in college, yet I weigh 20 pounds more than I did then, so I hear ya!. Keep up the great work!!
