Reminds me of the line from the movie "Braveheart" when William Wallace courts Mullen (sp). It's pouring staright down and Mullen's father questions the sanity of a horse ride in the rotten weather and Wallace answers

I was in White River Junction just 2 weeks ago! My mother lives in Barre and we were up for a weekend visit. We drove down to WRJ to go to the King Arthur Baking Store.

Robin--You've been to the King Arthur store!? I LOVE their catalog. I order from it occasionally. My local grocery store carries a lot of their flours and mixes. It's the only WW flour I use now. Boy, I would love to go there.

Michele, I loved the store. I could have spent all day there, but grumpy old mother was along. So was DH, who really wasn't interested, and DS, who was way too interested.
As for cookies, I made snickerdoodles, walnut frosties (a brown sugar cookie with a sour cream, brown sugar and walnut mixture baked in a thumbprint) and white chocolate cranberry bars. I still have a long way to go. I make at least 8 or 10 kinds of cookie each year. They work wonderfully for desserts or unexpected gifts.

Wilder is a nice town. My midwife who helped me deliver my third child lives up there. So, I used to make the trek every couple of weeks. And, will you believe it I never knew the king arthur flour place was up there. Is it an interesting place to visit? Worth an hour drive?

KAF is an interesting store with a bakery built in. They have free demonstrations and paid classes you can attend, (schedule is on their website). They have promotional weekends at times throughout the year.
I don't know if other's would think it's worth an hour's drive just to see the store. But then again I drove an hour and a half to see Yankee Candle's store in Massachusetts. (had the worst asthmatic attack in my life!)
Other interesting sites in the area (within 2 miles) Dartmouth College in Hanover NH and Dan and Whit's General Store in Norwich, VT "If they don't have it you don't need it", there's also the Wilder Dam and it'd fish ladder, last census they had 2 nesting pairs of Eagles. The Quechee Gorge and the Vermont Institute of Science's Raptor center is less than 5 miles away
You could kill a day here easy.

Dave, You are probably right about us driving through Wilder. I'll have to go home and check the map. We went to the Quechee Gorge last summer. Again, grumpy mom with an arthritic knee was with us, so we only got to walk across the bridge. We haven't been to the VIN Raptor Center, so may put that on the list for next time. My mom is cooped up in her house all alone all year, so we try to go places when we get up for a visit, but then all she does is complain about how boring the drive is and how long it's taking.
By the way, how is your recovery coming. Are you Bionic Man yet?

Thank you for asking, it's been 5 weeks since the hip got replaced.
I am walking, driving. Doing upper body weights. I went swimming last week breaststroke 125yds, my crawl collapsed after 25 yds. I've lost 16 lbs since the surgery, the pain meds and blood thinners are also appetite suppressors. I'm off of the meds now so I gotta be careful with the diet. Doc won't let me even think about work until January, I'm going nuts at the house. The longest break from work I've had in over 30 yrs was 2 weeks.
I'm going to have to modify every workout I do as I'm not allowed to twist on my right foot anymore, I guess dislocature is common. Vertical impact isn't a concern, hip and socket are titanium.
