Is Oat Bran considered whole grain?

Does anyone know if oat bean is considered whole grain? I discovered the oat bran makes my oatmeal and egg white pancakes have a better taste and texture and was hoping oat bran has as much nutritional value as my oatmeal.
TIA

No, bran is only part of the grain. Whole grains are made up of the bran (the outside coating, just under the hard shell that is removed), the germ (at the center of the grain, and source of vitamin E and other vitamins), and the endosperm (the bulk of the grain, which sits between the bran and the germ, and what is left in white flour, for example: think of a grain like a flame---the germ is that center brightest part, and endosperm the next layer, and the bran the outside border).

Oat bran is high in fiber particularly. Adding it to oatmeal isn't a bad idea.

I eat Hodgson Mill oat bran hot cereal every morning with protein powder (or shake). 1 ingredient: oat bran. I find the taste of oatmeal too starchy. The oat bran tastes great. Give it a try...but it's the natural form, not processed like the instant Quaker Oats deals.

Thats the kind I have too, Hodgson. I only eat Quaker old fashioned oats with my egg whites for breakfast (for the past 15 years) because I love them but I occasionally make the pancakes for a treat meal as I add chocolate chips to one or starwberries and a little whipped cream. Kills my sweet cravings and is actually a very clean meal (minus the tablespoon of chips}( )
Got confused on where oat bran would lie. I eat plenty of oatmeal and brown rice just wasn't sure about these.
Thank for the help and suggestions again.
