I'm wondering. Do any of you actually RUN the sports league that your son or daughter plays in???
Here's my story:
My older DS usually plays football in the Fall and baseball in the Spring. Baseball is his love and it's what he's good at, so this Fall he gave up football to play on our town's Fall baseball league. Thing is, our organization that runs our Spring team has let our town down and did not even put in any effort to get a Fall team together. The kids could go to the neighboring towns and sign up on their team(s), but we have enough kids to make our OWN team.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.......
I've taken it on as a personal mission. I'm officially in charge of my town's Fall Baseball League. Since it was all so last-minute, we had NO time to run an ad, so the best thing I could do was reach out to my address book (which includes parents, PTA members, etc) and pass the word around verbally. This all started Sunday! lol At this point, with just the leg work that I've done, I pretty much have a full team for each age level. We have OFFICIAL sign ups tomorrow afternoon and I will have a much better idea where we stand after that. (I'm sort of nervous.)
OK....I'm getting off the beaten path here.
I've gotten a TON of comments and pats-on-the-back for taking this project on. I, as well as NUMEROUS other parents, KNOW that it's time our town has this Fall league. If nothing else, I've laid the ground work and can hope for it to improve for next year, right?
Is anybody else in charge of your town's organization??? Any input?
