Iron Yoga

Has anyone tried/does anyone do iron yoga? I have just been reading about iron yoga by Anthony Carillo and it seems an interesting concept. Just wondering what people think of it as I would like to incorporate more yoga into my workout.

Thanks Kim:)

it's okay, nothing special. i don't have the book though, so the book may offer more. what he does, is you basic do the traditional pose with the lower body and with the upper body you only do a rep with light hand weights(so when in warrior you bring the arms up do a front raise, a curl with the back warm then maybe a curl with both arms). its a good concept but i wish he did more to make the workout exciting. i still have it and want to give it another shot, but its not one i reach for often.

I have Carillo's DVD and I do it once a week followed by a section of Stretch Max. The "workout" is okay but the guy is a little bit boring in it. He's a triathlete not a yogi and every single time I do this DVD I think that Cathe can do a much better job if she ever decides to try out a yoga workout.

By the way there's nothing like a live yoga class. I don't have a studio nearby anymore so I try to practice at home but it's not the same. I've done Hatha, Bikram, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga before Iron Yoga and there are differences. I'd say that Iron Yoga is more strength oriented than flexibility oriented if you compare it with traditional yoga, of course you will always have to work on your flexibility, but it is not its main goal. My perfect yoga class would involve light weights as in iron yoga, but with super tough poses to work more on my flexibility. I haven't seen anything like that yet.
