Into the West

Is anyone watching this series? we watched the 1st one last week and the 2nd one is about to come on. i thought it was ok.....just wondered if any of you are watching it.

Yup, we happened on the first episode last week and got totally hooked. Taping the next episode tonight and will watch it this weekend. It's fascinating--it's about the settlement of the west of the US--shows settler and American Indian cultures, and so far from a pretty realistic point of view, not too Hollywood-ed up. Stephen Spielberg is the executive producer.

I missed the first one somehow, and only stumbled onto the 2nd episode. I am hooked!! I hope they re-run the first which I think they might but I don't know what all I have set with Tivo. Why are you not thrilled with it?

We watched it last week and I actually forgot about it until I was in bad last night. I think I have this week's recorded on the DVR, so we'll probably watch it tonight. It's pretty good so far. Doesn't have me on the edge of my seat or anything. But there's nothing better on.

I got to see the first one yesterday. It filled in some blanks I had from beginning to watch at Episode 2. It is kind of depressing, but only in the way of truly showing the hardships people faced. I tend to appreciate that kind of depressing movie because it makes me more aware of that part of our history.

I really like the Jedidiah Smith character, and most especially the scene with Jacob on the hillside. They were talking about how West was a place on a map and not a lifestyle...this lead into a great discussion with my oldest son.

Still liking it!! Is this a series, or a mini series? I can only look up 3 episodes on my Tivo list. I wonder if it goes beyond 3.
