interval training Q

hey experts, quick Q

cateh says in the intro to one video that you shouldnt do "interval training" more than 2 days a week and you should give it 2 days recovery between interval w/os

my q:

does it count as "interval training" if if i do the cardio sections from "the viper" back to back without the weights? that would 4 c+w step cardio sections alternated with 4 imax2 segment? also, if do the step-hi/lo circuit from SJ+P--is that interval training? and what about step blast with the challenge? or are those 2 too short in duration to really count as "interval"?

or is it ONLY interval training if its a straight up imax workout

any advice would help--i dont want to overtrain, but i love imax 2 and low max so much, i want to do em every day!

thanks in advance

dana

Dana,
Yes this would be considered interval training because you are alternating segments of lower/medium heart rate work (Cardio and Weights segments) with intervals of high end sometimes anaerobic work during the Imax 2 intervals. Taking out the weight sections just makes it a straight cardio workout rather than a circuit workout. The step-hi/lo segments from SJP aren't really "interval" workouts but more like steady state cardio with a few intensity blasts thrown in.
Hope this helps,
Mattea

hey

thanks, i kinda figured that, i decided to just do low max without the blasts, still super fun--but it cuts out my fave song, the one from interval 3's blast--oh well ;)
