International DVD players anyone?

Hello all,
I've been searching past posts looking for information but I've still got some questions for ya'll.
First, I need a DVD player. I now live in Germany where everything is 220V and so this makes things a little tricky when dealing with electronic equipment (and everything else really).
Does anyone have experience with 5 disc changers for 220? If so, what brand/model do you recommend?
Also, would anyone recommend using a converter with a 120V player? Would this just totally fry my player?
I really want the Sony NC-615 but am afraid to ruin it with the voltage so I'm asking the experts out there...help!!!

:) Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

I'd be cautious about using a converter. I took a beloved hair dryer to Europe with me once (a special diffuser for curly hair that you can't buy anymore) and fried it with a voltage converter. Maybe you could find a cheap DVD player over there and save your Sony for when you move back to the States. I know...not much help, was I?

Michele,
I had a feeling that that was my realistic optionx( .
3 years without a disk changer just sounds soooo long to me.;-)

Thanks,

C

Sorry, I'm going to be as helpful as Michele.

I live abroad, but I just use my laptop. Would that be a possibility?

I've also noticed that SOME discs work in my Japan region DVD player. You might give them a try - sometimes they'll go mosaic but sometimes it's no problem. Like, my Jari S&L won't work in my laptop but will work in my DVD player.

And if you haven't looked, you might be able to find a DVD player that plays all regions. I'm not sure if they are "official" players, but I've heard good things about them...
