Kinda pricey but I think it'd work better on carpet (which I have) and be smoother. They also come with thick fabric that stretches over it that would make them good for hard floors. I got mine at target. Jess

These or Gliding Discs (which are cheaper, but don't offer the convertability to hardwood-floor surfaces that these do) would work well.
A cheaper alternative would be large furniture sliders (basically what the ValSlides are, based on their looks. You can get a pair of the largest size for around $9.

Any of these options also works well for travel. I put a pair of Gliding discs in my luggage when I travel, and they take up barely any room. And they work great on hotel carpet!

You are so smart! Also I have to mention the miracle movers. For me the small ones work so much better then the bigger ones, you have better control. They work on just about every surface out there. They last longer than a paper plate too.

just wanted to add even though these are pricey they are awesome quality. The black on top is gripy for your shoes/hands. they slide like butter over carpet. It comes with a very nice bag also and a dvd to show exercises and a high quality brochure showing them also. I figure since STS will use them and some other dvds I have I'll be glad to have them. Just sharing for those that might be interested.
