Inserts for Shoes

Mar

Cathlete
Hi - Does anyone use inserts in their sneakers? I saw Dr. Scholl's Sport Inserts and they looked pretty good. I'm hoping they lessen the shock of impact. I do step and kickboxing. Also would these be good for walking.

Thanks,

Mar

Hi Mar,

I've tried the inserts for my shoes but have always found that my foot doesn't sit right in the shoe with them in there. I do take the original inserts out and put the new ones in. The only ones that didn't do that were the Dr. Scholls arch support (they are bright blue and they don't go all the way to the toe) but after the second or third time using them my feet started hurting during classes. So I took them out. If you find some good ones let me know.

I swear by Superfeet. My chiropractor recommended them, and he is incredibly athletic and this is what he uses as well. They are a bit more expensive, but worth every penny....about 30.00

Hi Mar, My ankles, heels, and shins were really bothering me from overdoing the step, It was getting so bad after working out I had to put an ice pack on the inside of my ankles! I bought Dr. Scholls sport inserts, the heel cushions only. That solved all of my pain!! It's been about four weeks and no problem. I did notice that if you put them in a loose shoe they slip and slide, but my sneakers fit perfect and they stay put in them. I highly recommend them. Maybe everyone is different and this isn't the solution, but in my case (and I was having alot of pain) it really worked.

Good Luck!

Mar,

While Dani answers you I'll tell you where I got my Superfeet inserts: at Fleet Feet, and once I got a pair in the Kaiser pharmacy.

Try doing an internet search on them and you may find local retail outlets. You should choose the right ones. Mine are green (there are two kinds, blue and green).

They are just great for me, they go all the way to the toe, they are rigid but have some spring to them. They are a great invention! They really put the pep in my step!

I use the Dr. Scholl's inserts for all of my cardio with impact and have been very happy with them. I used to use Spencos and liked those also, but the Dr. Scholl's are cheaper and they work just as well for me.

Inserts can be of great comfort. I had prescription orthotics made by a poditrist for plantar fasciitits 5 years ago. I still use them but I also use over the counter inserts in my other training shoes so I don't have to keep moving them fomr shoe to shoe. I find the over the counter ones are judst as effieient for supporting my foot and cushioning. The suggestions by others here are fine. And remember to stretch your feet, legs and back well enough to prevent injury.

Hi!

I wear SOF insoles for motion control / stability. They are wonderful! They are a bit pricey ($35.00) but worth it for me. I read an article on the runnersworld.com website that rated shoe inserts and that is what helped me to decide. You should try doing a search on their site to read more information about insoles.

HTH :D

I think replacement insoles are must haves for high impact activities - the original ones are basically worthless because they're so thin.

I also love SOF soles and they last for a year or more.
