I have read some posts on these 2 workout systems and want opinions on which to buy? I would love to buy cathes sts series but its a bit pricey for me and these are cheaper and from what I have read , people are getting good results from both of these. I want to increase my cardio endurance for my races and I want to lose about 5-7pds also. I want to become leaner and more fit overall. I want to add something new to myworkouts to help me get over this platuea I am at. I currently run 4 days a week and teach a intense bootcamp class 1-2x week. I have been able to maintain myweight but not lose any since turning the BIG 40! I think I will eventually buy both of these series but want to start off with one and then before my cruise in may get the other series to change things up again. so which to buy first? thanks

I don't have the Chalean Extreme system but I do have the Insanity system and I'm totally addicted to it! Can't say enough good things about it, including the cardio challenge, the performance improvements, and the blessed sweat factor. I seem to recall that the Chalean system is not as challenging as the Insanity system from posts on the VideoFitness forums. I also seem to recall that Insanity worker-outers here have reported significant leaning out. One neat thing about Insanity is that a significant number of the cardio drills are in the plank position or are bona fide push-up drills, which takes a bit of the load off the legs - no small issue when you're a runner. IMHO Insanity would be excellent cross-training for you!

If you are planning on getting both, why you don't get sts instead? If I'm not mistaking Cathe has the payment plan. I think3 payments.
I don't have Chalean ES, but I have Insanity and I never thought that I will said this, but I'm liking it!!

FWIW my opinion is that because you already get a ton of cardio work in every week with 4 runs plus 2 BC classes per week, I would go for CLX since it's more of a weight work based program. Insanity is great (I am in week 3 right now) but if you are looking to shock your body I think maybe the weight training would be more beneficial then just adding on more cardio. Again, JMO. Take it or leave it. :)

I do weight with the bootcamp class but I definately need to add more wts but havent had the time. I really love wt training and need to add more this Iknow. thanks for the advice.

If you're looking for intensity, go for Insanity. I'm also a runner, and after replacing 2 runs per week with Insanity, my times have improved tremendously. Even though Insanity is high impact, my knees feel much better from the decrease in running.

how many days a week do you run? I really want to get my times down with my 5k's that would be great if they helped me to achieve this.

I am in my second month of Insanity. I have noticed significant leg strength gains and leg endurance gains with Insanity. My legs have leaned out and my abs are popping! My athletic performance has improved with Insanity! My resting heart rate has also decreased with Insanity and my HR recovery time has improved. Just before starting Insanity I completed a six month rotation of STS ( the first 31/2 rotation I did STS as presented and the second rotation was undulating). I also lost five pounds without changing anything in my diet with Insanity.

I do not have CLX but i would without any hesitation recommend Insanity! I am loving it! JOIN the INSANE party!

Runfree, I now only run 2 days per week. Sometimes it's one day, but the runs are stronger than they've been for a long time. When I run with my husband he can't believe how little run, but how strong my pace and endurance is. He runs 3-4 times per week and struggles to keep up. :) He actually did Insanity this weekend, and wants to do it again this week!

I am doing the Insanity rotation as produced plus some weight work (mainly upper body) and 1 run per week. That 1 run is a sad one for me yet everyone else reports such great improvements in their running. Insanity kicks my butt though so perhaps once the rotation is OVER, I will notice the difference in my running. I hope so! That might help to give me the kick in the azz I need to get back into it again. I can't seem to motivate myself to run more then once a week for months now....

Sorry for complaining. Just thinking out loud I suppose!

Fit Mommy,

I have a hard time making myself run too, but it's because I'd rather do Insanity! The whole time I'm running I'm telling myself that I could be getting double the workout in half the time doing Insanity.

If you want to add weight work and don't have a lot of time, CLX is what you want. The workouts are short enough that you can easily add some cardio (like a run) to the program. When I did CLX, I ran or did a 4DS cardio workout on the days I lifted, and put a step, kickbox or run in on the other 3 days, leaving a day of rest. It worked for me.

LOL you have a point there! I am personally just so darned worn out by the time I get to my run. That's what *my* problem is. I don't want to move my run to a "better" spot in the rotation though because Insanity is my main focus right now so if I am going to be lacking energy I'd rather it be on the run even though I wish it wasn't happening at all TBH. Anyway, the weekly run is just to keep my running endurance from totally going down the toilet. Once I finish Insanity I am going to try and get back into running more seriously again.
