Hi potential Road Trippers!

We know that y'all are pondering costs as you consider registering for a Cathe Road Trip this year. We thought it might be helpful for you to see some preliminary info on the van service we recommend for traveling to the hotels from the Philadelphia Airport, and back again on Sunday. (During the weekend Cathe will provide comfortable bus transportation to and from her gym.)

We recommended and used Rapid Rover Airport Shuttle in 2005 and 2007. Most Road Trippers reported being very satisfied with their service. We are waiting to hear back from Rapid Rover on a discounted special rate for us this year, so we don't have definite cost numbers for you yet. It's probably safe to assume that (with rising fuel costs) our rate this year will go up a few dollars.

So here's last year's info -- Everything but the rates will be the same this year. Use last year's rates for ROUGH budgeting and we'll be back in touch ASAP with this year's rates! :)

Rapid Rover Phone: 1-856-428-1500
Rapid Rover Fax: 1-856-662-7979

• Their largest vans accommodate 10 people.

• The cost in 2007 from the Philly airport to the Fairfield Inn or Residence Inn was $20 for one person in the van and $10 for each additional person in the van. Returning to the airport directly from the hotels was the same price.

• Last year Cathe provided bus transport back to the hotels after Sunday's brunch at the Five Points Diner (about a 12 minute trip) and she WILL do that again in 2008. If your flight is leaving at a time that requires you to go to the airport directly from the brunch, note that the cost from the Five Points Diner to Philly Airport is a bit more. In 2007 it was $31 for the first person and $10 per additional adult.

• These prices don’t include driver tip, which is at your discretion.

• Luggage: These restrictions shouldn’t be an issue in our case, but you should know them anyway. Rapid Rover will allow two pieces of luggage plus one carry-on item per person. In 2007 the added cost of one or two extra pieces was $2.00 per piece. More than two extra pieces, or bulky items, may result in the driver’s discretion in a higher rate.

Using Rapid Rover from Philly Airport to Hotels:
Upon your arrival at the airport, retrieve your luggage and proceed to the ground transportation counter located in the baggage claim area. Dial 21 on any courtesy phone at that counter to reach the Rapid Rover dispatcher. They will send a shuttle, and your driver will arrive at curbside to pick you up within 20 minutes.

PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT need to make a reservation for transportation to the hotels when you arrive in Philadelphia International airport.

Using Rapid Rover from Hotels or Five Points Diner to Philly Airport:
PLEASE NOTE: You DO need a reservation 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE (or as close to that as possible) for your Sunday pick-up. Simply call Rapid Rover after you check into the hotel. When you make this reservation, be prepared to provide them the name and phone number of the place where you’re being picked up on Sunday (the name of your hotel or the name of the diner), your hotel room number, your departure airline and flight number, and the scheduled departure time for your flight home.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: As you plan your Road Trip Sunday departure, remember that Rapid Rover will need to pick you up between 2 and 2 1⁄2 hours prior to your departure flight time, as they want to get you to the airport at least 90 minutes prior to your departure.

If you’re being picked up directly from the Sunday brunch, the address and phone number is:

Five Points Diner
Intersection of NJ Rte 41 & NJ Rte 47 (Delsea Drive)
Deptford, NJ 08096
Phone: 1-856-228-5166[/font color]

Hope this is helpful! :)
