Indeed it was a boy

Hello. I wanted to post regarding the delivery of the baby. "She" was indeed a "he" despite a 20 week ultrasound where the tech was pretty sure it was another girl. I never really went into labor and barged my way into labor/delivery hoping someone would kickstart me into labor before the scheduled c/s for what was thought to be a 10 pound baby. My dr. made me what she called her final offer (I am a lawyer after all)- I was contracting and at 4 cm-- they'd break my water to start more productive contractions (having had one prior c/s, induction was not an option for me-- increases the risk of rupture). The resident went to break my water, but the head was too high, creating a risk that the cord would slip under the head and compress. So off for my planned c/s I went. I was initially a bit pissed I didn't hold out longer for spontaneous labor, but got over it quickly.

His name is Joseph Augustin-- we'll call him Gus. He was a mere 9 pounds (just a joke- but I could have managed that without a c/s). It was a very calm birth, as opposed to my other 2 (#1 was an emergency c/s and #2 was a VBAC with meconium inhalation- lots of people running around).

He's a great nurser and back up to his birth weight.

Here are some pix, although my husband could have picked a better pic of me:

I hope to join you soon in your post partum check ins, although I'll be just walking for a while. My primary concern is to eat more healthy. I think I gained weight with my last round at BF'ing due to my voracious appetite for junk food.

I'm so glad everything went so well - I checked out Gus's pics, and he is adorable! He looks so relaxed, healthy and happy. I hope you feel as great as you sound, too! Is the recovery from a second c/s harder than from the first? Or is it easier knowing what to expect? Keep us posted, if you can, with pictures, especially :) :) I'll have to keep an eye on the post-partum checkin to see how Gus is doing!

Congratulations!! He is precious! I think you look pretty darn good to have been in the process of a c/section. JMO. :)

Take care!

congratulations! your baby is just perfect. i am so glad everything indeed ended up well - must have been scary, frustrating, etc... but now, look what you have. take good care

Hi Kristan--Ahhhh it is finally over. Sorry you had to have another c-section, but at least he is here and he is healthy! He looks beautiful too. Try to get lots of rest and have people spoil you if at all possible. I've found that children over the age of about 4 love to spoil their mommies, so take advantage of this--but be careful it can get messy:p :p

But seriously, I hope you have someone to care for you and that you recover quickly.

By the way, one of our sons has the middle name of Augustin:7. But he goes by his first name, Malcolm, unless I address him as Malcolm Augustin, (which I do a lot, because I like how the long names sound--I'm a little wierd)

And rambling--take care
Maggie:)

Congratulations on your new baby boy! What a strong little guy he looks to be. I love that name, too!

Kristan,

Congratulations - He's adorable! 9 pounds-WOW! His bright red lips are so cute.

I have to ask-where did you get the nickname Gus?

I'm so glad to hear everything turned out well and have you returned all the pink clothes yet?;)

Take care,

Thanks for your warm wishes. The repeat c/s was MUCH easier than the original, and about on par with the vaginal birth.

We have two older daughters, so I really hadn't bought anything for the baby (although now I have to). The nursery and all my 'stuff' is neutral. He has had a pink pacifier on occasion though. We've received some darling outfits from friends.

Maggie- so funny you have an Augustin too. I love the name Malcolm as well. Great name.
