Increasing weights...

Hi all,

I've been working very hard for the last 7 weeks and have had big strength gains. What I'm wondering is if you can increase your weights to fast? I did Fitness Freaks' Muscle Building & Defining Rotation for August and decided to do it again this month. I've been able to increase 2-10lbs on every muscle group. Just last week I was able again to increase by the same amounts. I've been working to failure every time without much soreness. My form is good and I have been lowering in the middle of sets if necessary. I feel good but my SO thinks I'm going up too fast. Opinions???

Thanks as always for the input.

I think if you're overdoing it you'd know, your body will tell you. The average time for major strength gains is about 12 weeks. After that you can see significant gains, then you'll reach a plateau for a while.

You do what you're comfortable with. Don't let your SO sabotage your hard work!

I am no expert but I would tend to agree with LauraMax here -- if you are pushing too hard, your body will tell you.

Congrats on all of your recent gains!
