Inadequate calorie intake---Help!

Beets

Cathlete
Hi all,
I am kind of freaking out. I have NO appetite lately. I have been eating but not enough calories per day. I am supposed to be eating at least 2100 calories per day and am having a hard time achieving that. I find that even when I eat small meals, my stomach has that full feeling all the time. It makes it hard to eat throughout the day because I am so uncomfortable. I don't know if it is because I am short waisted and my uterus is squishing my stomach and intestines (I am 22 weeks along)but I am just not hungry. It is about 4:00 in the afternoon right now and i have only eaten about 1000 calories so far and am feeling still so full from my 1:00 lunch that the thought of eating dinner is the last thing on my mind. I keep track of what I eat on the computer to make sure that I am getting what I need but there are many days when I average only about 1700 calories. Anyone else have this problem? I am afraid of "starving" my growing baby. Any suggestions?

My book, "What to Expect When You are Expecting" suggests that women who need to gain weight tip the scale towards "foods that are dense in nutrients and calories--avocados, nuts, and dried fruits, for instance--tha can fill you and your baby out without filling you up too much. And avoid such caloric bargains as large salads and air popped popcornm wich will do jus the opposite." (p. 85 2002 edition) It seems this logic would apply to you as well.

I do seem to have a bit less of an apetite myself. But I sort of think it is because I am really sick of the healthy vegetables I am making myself eat. I could just throw up if I see any more broccoli or carrots. My diet wasn't bad before--no junk food--but leaned almost entirely towards meat, rice, pita bread, and fruits. Very little vegetables. Honestly, I don't care for them much.
