In What Way Does a Tough Cardio Session Wear You Out?

I did MIC (hi/lo) for the first time today, after reading many times how tough it is. I agree, it is tough, but it's not the windedness that gets me. It's the lower body fatigue. I was at the higher end of my heart rate for sure, but I kind of like that feeling. Now, a couple of hours later, I feel pretty wiped and my lower body (particularly shins and ankles) really needs a rest. I guess I'm getting old...sigh...

How does tough cardio affect you?

I'm like you in that I have the endurance to do cardio all day, but I was a competitive runner for some years, but what will get me is alot of hi-lo on the tall box thrown in. That fatigues my butt muscles to no end!:p

After I do something like MIC I just feel totally wiped out in general. I've found that I don't really like going THAT extreme on cardio because often times, I feel crappy the rest of the day. I feel really hungry (bc of all the calories burned during the workout), and I get headaches. I also have bad knees so they end up being achey for the rest of the day.

I used to be a big cardio nut, always doing 6 days a week. Right now I am down to 3 days per week, and have really increased my focus and concentration on weight training. It's funny, but I am at the leanest I have ever been, and doing the least cardio I have ever done. I guess it makes sense bc I am increasing my muscle mass, therefore boosting my metabolism... but I never thought that increasing my weights would eliminate fat like it has!

I did the Hi/Lo portion of MIC today with Boot Camp cardio added on. I had not done MIC in awhile and forgot how much I like it. It really intimidated me at first.

What I found was that all day today, I was much more energetic. I have been walking very fast today and in a very good mood. I even voulenteered for something at work that nobody else wanted to do(YIKES!) That's the way it affects me. I'm not sure why.
