In praise of Yoga Relax!!

So here is my story ... 40 year old runner with 3 kids and a bad back. Training for my 2nd half marathon. I thought I was going to have to hang up my running shoes after the birth of my 3rd child seemed to make my scoliosis cause constant lower back pain. I started getting deep tissue massage and she was amazed how my back was one BIG knot and really recommended yoga. I've done yoga DVDs, classes, pilates classes ... soooo boring to me. Out of desperate need for relief from the constant pain I figured I'd try Yoga Relax since I love Cathe (loving to have her hurt me for the last 12 years!).

My back is so much better! That constant horrible lower back ache is gone, my massage therapist can tell the improvement, and last week during a chiropractor visit he didn't have to adjust anything in my lower back. That is a major first!! And it has really helped with recovery after long runs. I just love that Cathe is so practical and not so "mystical." Spent a little time in Collage this morning kind of looking for another yoga DVD to add just for variety but having a hard time with the instructors like Shiva Rae and Rodney Yee. Cathe fits in just perfectly since my tolerance for this stuff is kind of low.

To yoga "purists" Yoga Relax may not be too impressive, but as a former yoga hater it has worked wonders for me. Thanks Cathe!

I have that Yoga Disc sitting on the shelf and haven't done it yet because I just don't feel the yoga love. My lower back is killing me right now. I'm going to try it, now. How often do you do it?

I do the whole thing after my long run on the weekend. And I usually do the shorter premixes once during the week - so total of 3. When I got out of it a few weeks ago I had to hobble back from a run and my lower back started killing me again!

I totally agree with you! I find it excellent to ease the stiffness off esp after many hours spent sitting in my car. I don't love yoga, so this is just enough for me and it gets the job done easily and quickly!

I have appreciated Yoga Relax for similar reasons as well. I try to fit it in 3x a week as a 2nd workout. If I do it before bed I sleep so well. My lower back pain has signicantly reduced. This was the last workout of the series I tried because I didn't think I had a use for it.
Last week my husband, an avid runner, had done half of Afterburn and was sore through his lower body. He joined me for Yoga Relax the next day. At the end he didn't sit up. He had fallen asleep.
