Implantation Bleeding?

Hi everyone! I think I might be having implantation bleeding. I was on the mini-pill (Micronor, the one they use for nursing mothers and you don't have a period at all) and trying not to get pregnant but I missed one day last week, oooops. How long should implantation bleeding last? This is the third day I've had spotting and pink/light red mucusy discharge but I think it's actually picking up just a little bit. I stopped taking the pill yesterday because I'm almost convinced I'm pregnant but I just don't know what to think. Maybe somebody out there knows how many days implantation bleeding typically lasts. Thanks for any help!

Sounds like breakthrough bleeding from missing a pill. When you miss a pill it can start your period.

Implantation bleeding generally wouldn't last that long or increase in volume.

Hope this helps :)

I agree--sounds like breakthrough bleeding. Implantation should only be a couple of days, as far as I know.
I'd recommend a book for you: "Taking Charge of your Fertity" by Toni Weschler (sp?)...www.tcoyf.com --it's been a great source of information for me and I want to tell every woman about it!

Thank to both of you for your feedback, that could very well be it. After over two years of not having a period, it could just be my body's feeble attempt at menstruating. Anyway, it lasted from Thursday till Sunday (four days total) and was on and off the whole time. Sunday I got a big bright red mucusy blob and then nothing at all after that.

The thing is, I have had other symptoms of pregnancy that aren't necessarily associated with PMS symptoms, like that really persistent metallic taste in my mouth that I had the first time around, lots of heartburn (could just be stress of course) and an irresistible urge to go back to bed in the middle of the day, something I actually did not used to experience with PMS. Anyway, who knows what my body is doing, it's still too early to test again and expect a definite answer either way.

Thanks again for the input, I'll let you know what happens!

Hi Foolofatook!
I had implantation bleeding with my current pregnancy (am 35 weeks and counting the days now, LOL!). It only lasted about 24 hours and was very light, altho it was still enough to make me think I was getting my period, so I didn't bother doing a pregnancy test until a few days later, which then came up with a "weak" positive!! I went to my GP who sent me straight in for a scan the following day, and it turned out I was just 4 weeks pg. Obviously, your body will let you know one way or the other soon, but I would tend to agree with the others that it sounds like a "period", particularly as you missed your pill.
Let us know what happens!! ;-)

Implantation Bleeding & Socialized Medicine!

Heya Kaz! Were you pregnant back in 2002/2003? I posted a while with my first pregnancy during the Summer & Autumn of 2002 and I think I remember you from then. Congrats on your current pregnancy, I'll bet you feel like you're ready to pop at 35 weeks =)!

One thing that confused me about your post though is that I thought implantation occurs anywhere from five to ten days in but it sounds like you had your spotting about three to four weeks in. Hadn't you missed your period by then and gotten curious?

Wow, I wish we had something closer to socialized medicine in the States! I don't have insurance right now and we're reasonably broke so there's no way I can go to the OBGYN to find out for sure, much less plan on having prenatal visits like I really should be able to in any quasi civilized country. My husband makes too much money to get government help or Medicaid and even if we could qualify, I absolutely despise the local health clinic! We buy health insurance for my 17 month old daughter separately but she's the only one insured in our family and it's tough enough to pay for that! It'd be a lot tougher though if we didn't buy it, whew! Anyway, maybe we should just go have a loooooong holiday in Britain until it's time to give birth, ha! When we were watching Bianca Butcher finally come 'round to her senses she just hopped a bus and went down to the GP without even flinching at the cost of a full exam and sonogram, no worries, there's a lot to be said for that!

Well, thanks for sharing your experience, I'll let you know just as soon as I can figure out for sure what's going on. Take care
everyone...

RE: Implantation Bleeding & Socialized Medicine!

Check with your county health department. Many, if not all, offer low cost health services, perhaps doctor visits, etc.

PepeHall, Thanks for the website. The forums there look awesome, I signed up today. I will probably frequent there as I do here.

RE: Implantation Bleeding & Socialized Medicine!

I WAS pregnant in 2002-2003 (had my little boy in Jan 2003 - he's 20 months now - yikes!!). I'm touched that you remember! I always remember you, as I love your user name (I'm a big "LOTR" fan!!) and I do remember that you were due not long after me! I feel for you not being able to afford that insurance! I guess we do take our National Health Service somewhat for granted over here, altho I know there are areas within the NHS that are of great concern to many of us - however, I wont go there now as that will get us into a whole other debate;-) !! I certainly cannot complain personally about the pre-natal care that I have had with both of my pregnancies. And yes - I really DO feel ready to pop this time!!
With regard to implantation bleeding, I'd never actually heard of it until it happened to me. I was told by the hospital that it sometimes happens AS the egg implants into the uterus lining, but sometimes it can also occur AFTER the egg has implanted. In my case, the bleeding started on exactly the day my period would have been due, so I altho DH and I had been trying for another baby, I just naturally assumed that my period had arrived as usual and that I wasn't pregnant!
Anyway, I hope to hear your outcome, one way or another!
Take care!

RE: Implantation Bleeding & Socialized Medicine!

Hello everybody & thanks so much for your input and insight! I was waiting to feel sure about the results before I posted again and it looks like you all were exactly right, just my body's pathetic attempt at a period. The HPTs keep saying NO even after two weeks since I started bleeding so it looks like a great big yummy pint of Bass for me tonight.....but better than rain or rippling brook is a mug of beer inside this Took!!

Hey Kaz, great to have a fellow ringer on the board. Hope your 20 month old and your bun in the oven are both doing great, looking forward to reading about your big day coming up! By the way, happy (two days late) birthday of Bilbo & Frodo! 22 September was also the first day of Autumn but some years it's the last day of Summer, wonder which was it was the year Tolkien decided on it ;).

My sweet precious Fiona Bethany is 17 months old now and getting to be such a big girl. You're very brave, I don't think I could possibly handle a newborn and a child in their terrible two's! I guess I'd figure it out if I had to but I'm glad to be able to put off getting pregnant again for a while. I'm sure you'll do great though and will thoroughly enjoy being the mummy of multiple kids!! Take care...
