I'm about a month post meniscus tear and lateral release surgery. The first week was more than he!!ish. The 1st PT visit was terrible, I wanted to cry, it hurt sooooo bad and there wasn't enough vicodin in the world to make it better.
Fast forward 4 weeks. VERY much better. I have 3 more PT visits and 1 more Dr visit next week. The PT says I should be done then. I've decided to ignore the Dr and listen to the PT, if it feels ok do it, if it hurts or is bothersome, back off.
I did Basic Step last week no probs and KM w/o the drills last week no probs. Tossed in RS & MM this week (matched Cathe on the legs - I'm usually a little heavier) with no probs. And did my very most favorite - IMAX 3 tonight, with no problems!!!! Oh, happy day!!! Granted, I was on the 4 in step instead of 6, which I usually use, but I figured better safe than sorry. The only thing I couldn't do was #5 - the 10 million plie jacks - I had to sub in regular jumping jacks. Plie's weren't comfy. I am so happy. I had to ice when I was done, but no big deal, just a precautionary to prevent any possible swelling.
We'll see how things are in the morning, but it all feels good for now. Just a few weeks ago I was in a terrible funk thinking things were NEVER EVER going to get better. I can even wear my cute shoes again. Double yay!!! I was surprised I really didn't lose much cardio endurance. RS was tough in the beginning, and then I thought "you do this all the time, if you think it will be hard, it will be hard. don't think about it, just do it" and then it got easier. I was also quite surprised I didn't yak up a lung during IMAX 3 tonight, but it all went smoothly, it may have been the short step, but I am still quite happy.
