In my quest to find different aerobic activites other than a step workout (which I'd gladly do all the time) my father has decided to give me his never used stairmaster
Now, how do I use this thing? Is there a specific method to the workout? Am I just supposed to get on it and go for about 20 minutes or do I speed up then slow down etc....? I'm also worried about over developing my quads. Is this a problem or does the stairmaster recruit different muscle fibers than doing step aerobics.

It's the first day of school
and it's only a half day so I have to get ready to go pick up my brand new 1st grader (how in the heck did that happen ???)
