I need your help/advise.....

Ok, most of you know I own a gym and another on the way.

What I need advise on is this:
I work a 9:30 - 5:30 p.m.
I leave work and go straight to gym one; either to help out or train someone.
I'm expected to make my appearance at our new gym every so often, to get familar with the place, members can become familar with me, and possible train there too.

On Tues. & Thurs. I leave work go home to a not so quiet house and try to sleep for an 1 hr 1/2, go to the gym to train someone from 9:30 to 10:45. This person can only come 9:30 at night, no other trainer is available, and I can use the $$. I'm here at work today and can barely keep my eyes open. My head is pounding.

Should I continue to work this 9-5 and work at both gyms, or should I leave this place altogether and work & train at both gyms. If I work both gyms, I WILL NOT have to deal with mass transit again.

I feel like a zombie.

Haydee - if you can afford to leave your 9-5 and focus solely on the training and the gyms, that is what I would suggest.

Hey Shelley I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about it. But I keep getting, "what about your insurance"...........I'm frigging ready to scream because the people who keep asking me that question are the ones who are CONSTANTLY going to a dr.

Besides we had a girl working in gym one, but she left a few weeks ago. Dh mentioned that he would give me her spot at both gyms and I get to keep all the $$ I make training. Well it seems every time I'm ready to do this, then it's "wait, wait, wait" WAIT for @%$#%^$ what? No one in that gym does what I do. I'm the only one that work a 9-5 and work & train at the gym. They're all really pissing me off big time.

Sorry, I'm usually not like this. I'm the total opposite. But I think I am so freaking tired and every time I mention this, all I get is "hang in there" or "soon we'll make so much $$, you can leave in about 8 mos. to a year". I #$%^^%^#$^$%^$^ TIRED NOW.

I guess the only reason why I'm bitter is because this was presented to me, and my hopes are so high and I really enjoy what I'm doing and now it's like "well I didn't tell you that you can leave tomorrow". Meanwhile that's all we talk about.

Haydee,

Regarding careers/jobs, there's a saying "Do what you love, the money will follow". It often seems to come down to faith in yourself and in what you believe you should do.

Try to get some rest. No way could I keep up with you!

Haydee - everyone has given great advice. I'm just here for moral support! I'm with Melody - I couldn't keep up with you - I'd be down and out... Good luck!

>HAydee , you are going to burn yourself out girl.
>Depends on what job you make the most at and enjoy the most.
>You better take care of yourself or you won't be going to any
>of them.
>Looking at you , it looks like you love to work out.
>I say do what you love best.

Anne,

I really do enjoy helping people. I feel so good about it. One woman that I train told me since she's started coming to the gym and working with me, her back is feeling so much better, because at one time she could bring her shoulders off the floor doing for a single crunch. Now she's using incline ab machines.

Melodygirl,

This is pretty much what my mother and I keep saying. I also say to others as well as to dh, God didn't put people on this planet to be stressed, depressed and angry with a job we no longer desire, we do it to ourselves by staying there and not moving on to find our true happiness. All dh keeps thinking about is the $$ that I'm make here as a legal secretary. So what if I take a cutback in salary, I'll be doing what I love and you're right the $$ will follow. Besides I tell him, if the gym doesn't work out, I'll look for something else. I've worked as a secretary for 20+ years. I'll buy a computer and keep myself abreast on the latest programs that offices are using.

Ok, I'll relax for now.
Thank you all for your advise.

Haydee,

I am so sorry that you are going through all this stress right now! I agree with the others. If you can quit your job and still be okay working at the gym and training, then I say by all means go for it! It is what you love to do! You'd be happier, thereby making clients happier, therefore obtaining more clients. The money will follow.

Do not let all this stress kill you.

Sounds like you're getting your thoughts together. I remember when I chucked everything and started my own business, frightening stuff. But I loved what I was doing and believed so strongly in it, there was no way it was going to fail. And it didn't.

Keeping you in thoughts and prayers.:)

Haydee, there are options for insurance. You can do COBRA or perhaps if your DH has two gyms, it's time for him to start offering that as a benefit to employees.

I agree that if you are this stressed and you really have an opportunity to make it doing something that you totally love, you should definitely explore that.

Besides, if even one of those people ends up looking like you afterwards, it was worth it!! I don't like gyms that much but I would train with you in a second!!

Good luck!
Marie
