I need mattress help

Winter

Cathlete
Hi All,

I am shopping for a mattress. I struggle with low back pain so I would like to get it right the first time.

I used to wake up so stiff and sore in my low back that it took several minutes to tie my shoes.

I bought a memory foam topper and that helped a lot. I would like to buy a tempur pedic mattress but the reviews I have been reading are not so good - softens up in 2 years, hard to return, bad customer service.

Any mattress suggestions from anyone? I toss and turn more that 5 times a night it seems.

Thanks,
Winter

I love my tempurpedic! Maybe try that Select Comfort sleep number bed? I didn't care for it but alot of others like it. You can even buy it and try it for 30 days and return it is you don't like it.

I love my Tempur-Pedic too. I think I've had it for at least two years and it is still working fine!:) In the beginning it took me about a month to get used to it. Now I can't sleep on anything else. I will say that during the winter months the mattress is firmer than during the summer months when it is warm. I sleep good in it all year round though! Before I got the Tempur-Pedic I did have some lower back pain/stiffness. Not any more. Good luck in your search.

I have a Kingsdown pillow top. I got it in 2001 & there are absolutely no signs of wear (of course a 110 lb girl isn't gonna wear out a king sized mattress very quickly).

Anyway, it is one of the best pieces of furniture I ever bought. Incredibly comfy (firm & soft at the same time) & I sleep like the dead.

I'm with Laura. I love my Kingsdown pillowtop. My DH and I call it "The Cloud". I think I've had it for about 5 years, but could easily imagine it lasting the rest of my life.

I love that it's made of all man-made materials so it's completely hypo-allergenic. (As I understand it, dust mites, bed bugs and fleas are not interested in it because they are attracted to natural materials. Ick.) It's mold and bacteria resistant and it doesn't absorb moisture like natural fiber mattresses.
