I need help picking out a new smoothie maker....

I'm shopping for my mom and myself. Her blender died and mine is too much of a pain the a$$ to use. I'd like one that isn't too complicated to put together and take apart for cleaning, has a strong enough motor to make a couple of smoothies at a time, and the icing on the smoothie would be one that has single serving cup attachment thingys. Am I asking too much here?

What do you use to make your smoothies?

Connie :D

Sorry, I just use a regular ol' blender. It is very easy to clean (I usually just rinse it out with water and call it a day - don't even take it apart), but there's nothing special about it. I have an immersion blender too, but it does not work well for pureeing frozen fruits and ice, and the darn thing is too big to fit into any of the glasses we own. So I always get out the big blender for my smoothies. I use it almost daily. I would cry if it ever broke!

The chef in our cafeteria has an actual "smoothie maker" - it's basically a short blender with a spiggot attachment (like a tap) so you don't even have to take the pitcher off to pour a smoothie. I think you can get those at places like Bed Bath & Beyond.

I have a regular blender and I have a smoothie one too that has the spiggot that Emily talked about. I don't remember where I got mine though. I have had it for a while. :)

I use "Magic Bullet," and that's pretty much all I use it for. It came with 4 "mugs" that you fill with stuff and screw on to the blade base. Then after you blend, you just rinse off the blade, then wash the mug when you're through (I hand wash, and these wash up easily). I LOVE it and have had no problems with it.

Kathryn-
I've seen the Magic Bullet on TV and think I'd like one too. Did you find yours in a store or did you have to order it from the TV infommercial?

Connie,

Hamilton Beach makes an 800 watt blender with a travel cup attachment so you can make a single serving. I considered this one until I happened upon a deal at Bed Bath and Beyond for 750 watt Back to Basics smoothie maker with a spigot. It was regualy $50, but the were selling the display for $25 and I had one of thoes 20% coupons. I'm a gal that gets her jollies on getting a deal.

I burned out the motor on my blender earlier this year making smoothies and Margarita's. Probably mor Margarita's than smoothies, but shhhh...don't tell anyone.

Marla,
NO problem!! I love helping when I can!
I love mine!! I am thinking of buying another one just so I don't have to keep washing the cup after every time I use it...LOL

:)
