when I got my 15# and 20# kettlebells to start from target. the handles are *perfect*. I've been going back to find another 15# for doubles and everytime they have some huge rim underneath the handle or some major chunks. Wondering if I should keep waiting or buy one and switch it out when a better one comes in.. I heard about filing.. but not sure how we'll that'd work nor what to do it with. ? I am also on the verge of returning them to buy some aders online just to "feel" like I have the most loved KBs. lol! I'm trying to resist the urge. so I want to keep them like "new" so they are returnable for a while.
also for anyone whose done KB with doubles is 15# good enough. It seems to be to me whenever I pick two up (yikes) but have yet to try exercises with them. I've heard of some women using more like 2 20# or even more? I just dont' want to buy something that I wont use later.. they are just so pricey. I want to buy what I'll always use. I understand I may have to workup to a higher weight though. sigh.. Just thinking out loud.

All of my kettlebells are Go Fits purchased from either Target or Dick's, and I haven't had any issues with handles. I have a 15#, 2 20#s, and a 25#. I would say wait and work up to acquiring a pair of the heavier bells. I do think you will outgrow the 15 and need more of a challenge.

Hi Jess.

I started using KB's with a single 15# and it soon became too light for lower body work. I bought one 20# and another 15#. I have found that the 2 15#'ers for double bell work is perfect. 2 20's would be too heavy for me at this point. I found I can use the single 20# for upper body and usually do but when it comes to doubles the 15's are where it's at for me right now.

I purchased first place kbells from perform better. The vinyl coated ones. If I like them, I'll buy another set of the lower weight. They are pricey suckers!

I've read the ader premiums have the better handles for women. I'm looking to buy heavier kbells in my area so I won't have to pay shipping. Do the handles go up in size as the weight goes up on the Gofits?
Someone on VF was complaining how wide the handles are on the heavier muscle drivers.

I'm new to all this, but this is what I have purchased so far.

Lauren is amazing! Look at her abs. I think she's had 3 c-sections. This video gets great reviews on VF.

I bought this one for the great reviews...

AOS Anthony is suppose to be one of the best. I'm getting ready to purchase his training clinic. Apparently, this is a great place to begin if you've never picked up a kbell. Form is everything. Check out all the videos on his website! This guy is amazing too!

Tell me about it!
My amex card got a lot of use this week. I went for the vinyl coated kbells that have all the pretty colors. It's a very costly sport, but I think it will be a great add to weight lifting. I'm so impressed with the overall fitness of kbeller's.
Lauren is a doll isn't she?
Did you see the women on Art of Strength.

How's that for enabling:D

Well, now, you may single-handedly get my DH to ban me from this board!!!
I'll let you know what I end up purchasing

I love my GoFit 25#'er that I bought at Dick's. I really need some DVD's!!

Cynthia,
I noticed you said your buying the kettlebell way to your perfect body from beacon fitness. If you bought that one then you wont need providence it is the exact same workout just with the woman with anthony and the extra tutorial. just fyi.

Oh that reminds me. They are coming out with a volume 2 of Kettlebell Way. It looks great!
Volume one shipped fast. I should have it by Saturday:)

Lynne,

About the pairs. Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in here. It is my understanding that in the beginning you will only need one. Pairs are for more advanced moves. From what I can tell, you would only need 2 of a size you can squat comfortably with.

I'm starting out with one of each. I may buy another set of weights up to 25lbs later.

What exercises/dvds are you all using the kbs for?
Just curious. Always looking to try something new :)

I have:
  • Art of Strength Providence
  • AoS Firepower
  • AoS Newport
  • The Extreme Kettlebell Cardio Workout (Keith Weber)
  • Kettlebell Goddess
  • Iron Core Way Vol. 1
  • Iron Core Way Vol. 2
Anthony's (AoS) are the best, IMO.

Some workouts use two kettlebells for certain exercises, but modifications are shown if you only have a single.

How much were they at Dick's?
I found this site
http://www.muscledriverusa.com/kettlebells.html?gclid=CIyJqbCz25QCFQvOIgod3iTpkA which has them for 25% off. Don't know if it's worth it b/c of shipping to just go to Dick's & get them ;)

ETA:
Do you need them in pairs? In the trailers posted above it seems you're only using one at a time....

I have the 25#'er and I want to say it was $45 at Dick's? So depending on how much shipping is, it might be cheaper at Dick's! HTH!
