I miss the old me

Hi everyone,

Most of you may not remember me but I used to post here quite a bit. I still lurk but haven't posted in a while. I'm now entering my 7th month of pregnancy(I'm due 10-3-05). I'm still working out about 5 days a week with Cathe-modified, of course. I feel great but I can't wait for the baby to be here so I can work on getting my old body back.

I'm just starting to get really anxious and I miss doing the high intensity and high impact. I want to do High Step Challenge, the Blast Challenge in Kick Max, and I really can't wait to do a circuit workout again- I even miss the terminator climbers in Bootcamp. Boy, I never thought I'd say that!!! Pregnancy hormones must be getting to me.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Hey Wendy! Nice to see you again!

I gave birth to my son, Joey, on May 14th so I'm back in full swing with my work outs now but I know exactly where you are coming from! I was sooo tired of keeping my work outs low impact, etc. I was also about ready to chew my own arm off by the time I was able to work out again AFTER I gave birth I was so anxious! lol

It's hard to "BEHAVE" but it's sooo worth it! Hang in there and you'll be back to your killer Cathe work outs before you know it! :+

Thanks Wendy

I've checked out your pictures and Joey is absolutely adorable. And you, you look amazing. Good for you and thanks for cheering me up:)

Glad I could help!:) It's great to hear that you are feeling good now. I know you had a difficult first trimester. :-( I can't wait to find out that you are in labor! :) You gotta let us know even if you have a friend post for you! Did you find out the sex of the baby or did you not want to know? I think you had told us wether or not you would find out a while ago but I forgot! :+

Take Care!

Wendy,

I can't wait to be in labor! We decided not to find out when we had the ultrasound. However, I do find myself occasionally (ok- more than occasionally;)) taking crazy internet quizzes and even dangling my wedding ring on a string over my belly to look for clues-to no avail.

Hopefully, now I'll be posting around here more often. I forgot how nice it is to talk to people who are going through the same thing.

Hi Wendy!!! Great to see you post! I received your last email sooo long ago, and will reply soon. I hear you about missing your old self. I would love to be able to easily bend over to pick up all the stuff that I seem to drop. And I'm itching to try those same workouts you mentioned. I also miss workouts like Circuit Max, Cardio Kicks, 10-10-10, Kickbox, and the Terminator, Hardcore Extreme, etc. etc.

Cheers!
Sandra

Sandra,

Don't worry about the e-mail.

I pulled out Circuit Max and thought I'd give it a whirl the other day - WRONG! That high impact/intensity would probably put me into labor early! Looks like it will be a few months before we get to try any of those workouts, huh?:( Good news is that all those other workouts will seem brand new when we do finally get around to using them:)

I know what you mean about bending over. If I didn't have to go to the doctor every few weeks I would let the hair on my legs grow until I could just put it in ponytails!!!

ROTFLMAO! I had similar thoughts myself!
:7 :7 :7

You guys are funny about the leg hair!... but... for me, I would never shave on the account of a doctor! And I don't - my legs get shaved maybe every 3 weeks.

I can't wait to get my "old" body back, but I actually sure am enjoying not exercising. I quit 3 weeks ago.

I wish I could do that (leg hair) Emy but I can't...I don't know why...it's just a mental block I have I guess. lol :7

I can't let it go longer than a day or two. If I did, I'd end up with cuts so bad that when my legs rub together I'd need stitches!

BTW - That's another thing I miss about the old me - the days when my thighs didn't rub togetherx(

I can empathize with the thigh thing too! I thought it was from weight gain but when I gave birth and my legs almost instantly didn't rub together anymore I realized it's not the weight gain...it must have been the change in my posture due to having an additional 30 pounds hanging off the front of me! :p

LOL! You guys are funny. I'd like to see some light shine through my thighs again, too.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the hair on your legs is growing slower? I had this with DD#1, too. I could easily go a full week without shaving, except the hair under my arms is growing as normal, so I shave more often.

Sandra

I certainly did feel the same way! I was in the middle of my pregnancy when I received all the workouts in Cathe's last series, and it was hard to preview the workouts knowing I couldn't do most of them. Added to that was 6 weeks recovery postpartum for my C-section. I was chomping at the bit to go back to my challenging workouts, but I did easier workouts for the first two weeks, using only one riser for my step workouts. Now 3.5 weeks postpartum I can say I'm back into my challenging workouts, and it feels great! Especially as my lower body continues to get back to normal size!

Jen, please tell me you meant to write "3.5 months", not weeks!!

Congratulations for getting your conditioning back so quickly! You, Wendy, and the other post-partum moms are my motivation for picking up my workouts as early in the post-partum period as I can. This time, I won't wait 2 years and 70 extra pounds before pulling my Cathe dvds back out of the drawer!

Sandra

Ya know Sandra, I thought the same thing too (about the hair on my legs). Too bad it won't stay like that forever.

I'm with you all about missing my old body. Last night I was playing hide & go seek with my 4 year old and I just can't hide like I used too. LOL And I have a hard time getting out of my hiding spot once he finds me. My back aches constantly and I'm forever with heart burn.

Although I'm still working out, I'm looking forward to the time when I don't have to modify and I get my old strength back.

I agree, you post partum moms are a great inspiration! :)

Sandra - I know what you mean about no light b/w the thighsx(. But, I wish the hair on my legs would grow slower. Instead, the hair on my legs seems to be growing faster. Then again, maybe it just seems that way because it's getting harder and harder to reach!x(

Dana - LOL!! I know what you mean about the heartburn. It just doesn't seem to go away and we still have 13 weeks left!

Interesting......The old wives' tale says that slowed leg hair growth means girl, and faster growth means boy. Perhaps you already knew that?
