I have some questions for you:

Annabelle2

Cathlete
I am doing a little research and I need your help!

1. Do you add toning to your exercise program?
2. What toning do you do? Which workouts, instructors, etc...
3. How long do you workout?
4. How do you work the toning in with your cardio and weight work? Do you do only certain things on certain days or do you try to get a little of all of it daily?
5. Those of you who have stopped Cathe to do the Slim Series for a bit - how long did you do it and did you notice any cardio capacity or strength loss when you returned to your Cathe workouts?
6. Do you parcipate in any other physical activities other than your video workouts?
7. What rotation/workouts have given you the best results and what were they?
8. Those of you who have done P90X - can a regular Cathe exerciser find it pretty doable and if you don't have the pull up bar how are you modifying?

I think that is everything. I am working on developing a new program for a little change and I am really undecided about what I am going to do, thank you for answering!

1. Do you add toning to your exercise program?

Not specifically, but have been thinking lately it might not be a bad idea.

2. What toning do you do? Which workouts, instructors, etc...

All toning comes in my aerobic videos such as Cathe's KPC or in "light" workouts such as the Firm Lower Body II.

3. How long do you workout?

About an hour a day, 3-5 days a week.

4. How do you work the toning in with your cardio and weight work? Do you do only certain things on certain days or do you try to get a little of all of it daily?

If I did toning, I would do it daily (with maybe one complete day off). When I was doing the Firm mostly I would alternate the workouts, one day it would be very light weights for the toning and one time heavy.

6. Do you parcipate in any other physical activities other than your video workouts?

Not really other than ocassionaly walks outdoors.

7. What rotation/workouts have given you the best results and what were they?

Cathe (any) seem to give me the best results. The Firm gave me great results in the beginning, but seemed to plateau after a year or so.

>1. Do you add toning to your exercise program?
What do you mean by toning? I do heavy weight work. At times I will do lighter weights and more reps.

>2. What toning do you do? Which workouts, instructors,
>etc...
A lot of Cathe. Now I'm into P90X, which I intend to stick with for a while because it's giving the results I want.
I also use Karen VOight, the Firm, Fitprime, more recently, Tracie Long Productions (excellent work for core training).

>3. How long do you workout?
About an hour a day, 5-6 days a week, though sometimes 7, including stretching days.

>4. How do you work the toning in with your cardio and weight
>work? Do you do only certain things on certain days or do you
>try to get a little of all of it daily?
So for you "toning" isn't weight work? Then I don't understand.

>5. Those of you who have stopped Cathe to do the Slim Series
>for a bit - how long did you do it and did you notice any
>cardio capacity or strength loss when you returned to your
>Cathe workouts?
I did Slim series for about 2 or 3 weeks.
I had to do some Cathe upper body after a while because I missed the heavy weights.

>6. Do you parcipate in any other physical activities other
>than your video workouts?
Not other than a lunch-time walk when I'm at work, and gardening and landscaping my yard.

>7. What rotation/workouts have given you the best results and

P90X!
>8. Those of you who have done P90X - can a regular Cathe
>exerciser find it pretty doable and if you don't have the pull
>up bar how are you modifying?
Yes to both questions.
I don't have a pullup bar.
I've used the bands (but am unsure about their safety in my doors), but I prefer to substitute a selection of 1-arm rows and incline pullovers.

1. Do you add toning to your exercise program?

If by toning you mean very light weights, then no, not often. If you mean weights, then yes, I work each muscle group twice a week, 2 out of 3 of these are strength, 1 is endurance. I work abs every other day.

2. What toning do you do? Which workouts, instructors, etc...
I do either Cathe or an ad lib routine of my own with no instructor to follow.

3. How long do you workout?
I work out 6 days a week, from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Most days, an hour.

4. How do you work the toning in with your cardio and weight work? Do you do only certain things on certain days or do you try to get a little of all of it daily?

Some days are all cardio, some all weights, and some I use a short cardio combined with weights. It just depends on what's going on. I try to do 4 cardios a week.

5. Those of you who have stopped Cathe to do the Slim Series for a bit - how long did you do it and did you notice any cardio capacity or strength loss when you returned to your Cathe workouts?

I've never done the Slim Series.

6. Do you parcipate in any other physical activities other than your video workouts?

I run weekly during weather under 75 degrees only. I walk a lot. I go to maybe 2 spin classes a month. I have an Airdyne bike I use once or twice a month. I cross-country ski and swim and inline skate occasionally.

7. What rotation/workouts have given you the best results and what were they?

PS, S/H and the Pyramids. Interval cardio. These make a huge difference. I don't do rotations per se. I just try to do 4 cardios and 2 weight workouts per muscle per week.

8. Those of you who have done P90X - can a regular Cathe exerciser find it pretty doable and if you don't have the pull up bar how are you modifying?

Have never done P90X.

Thank you so much for your answers!

I guess I used the wrong word for what I meant for toning, I was meaning using very light resistance and enough reps to exhaust - or floor work I guess. I don't do much of it and thighs are getting big, I have lowered my weight for legs but was wondering what else I could do to slim them, I have gathered several ideas for this and the floor work with low weight and high reps has come up a lot.
