Well I went for my 20 weeks check and low and behold I was told that I have partial placenta previa. No sex, working out or heavy lifting for 4 weeks. Had I known that step heat was going to be my last workout for a while I would have enjoyed it more. Anyway has anyone else had this or know someone who has? Thanks

what exactly is this? and did you have any symptoms? is this your first baby? it must be awfully scary. i am just 2 weeks behind you and go for my big ultrasound feb 2nd.

Hi Mary,

Usually when people are told that the placenta is partially covering the cervix, they're also told that it will likely move up as the pregnancy progresses, and get out of the way of the opening. Is that what your doctor is saying? From what I know of the situation, it often rectifies itself. What I don't understand is why you're being told to lay off of sex and exercise for the next 4 weeks? I'm *not* suggesting that you ignore the advice; just wondering what the doctor is worried about?

Did you get to see the baby?

All the best,
Sandra

HI there! My very dear friend had Placenta Previa. They just watched closely and she couldn't exercise or have sex. They said if it stayed that way they would have to do a C Section (her first was vaginal). It turned out she came 1 month early, but she's doing fabulously, she is now 3 months old:D When she first told me I asked my father in law (ob/gyn) about it. He says its not too common but nothing to really worry about. Your's is only partial, you still have lots of time for it to move up;-) Whatever the case, your peanut will be just fine. Good luck!

Fortunatly I did get to see my little toe sucker. He is 12 inches long and weighs 15 oz. They said that the tissue around the bottom of the uterus is thinner and the placenta can rupture more easily than it could if it was up higher. I am only on restriction until my 24 week check up and then hopefully it moved. I have to say that I have had no symptons and I was shocked when they told me. I will keep you posted

I also had this at 20 week ultrasound with baby #2. They made no recommendtions & said I could continue to workout, work and have sex. I had another ultrasound 4 -6 weeks later and the issue resolved. Apparently it's pretty common & almost always resolves on its own. ;)

I had this too at my first ultrasound. I think it was around 18 weeks. As my pregnancy progressed, the placenta moved up and I had a normal vaginal delivery.

Keep us posted on how things are going.
