I have a question

Hello ladies, well I went to the dr. yesterday and found out that my baby is measuring 4lbs. 4oz. (he should be 3lbs at this point) My dr. said i can forget about having a 7lb baby at full term. Now my dr.also mentioned that my fluid level was moderate to high, I was wondering if the amniotic fluid is higher because the baby is bigger?
I am having a diabetes test tomorrow and they said that they will probably induce me around 37 to 38 weeks. If anyone has any input I would really be greatful.

how far along are you? ultrasound weights can be off by quite a bit (up to 10% either way depending on the US techs capabilities). The amount of fluid can vary from person to person and in the deliveries I've seen and my friends deliveries-I've seen babies come out at 5 lbs but the mom's belly was huge due to the extraordinary amt of fluid, but I've also seen 10lb babies who could've done the backstroke in utero due to the fluid. The glucose tolerance test is necessary because if you have gestational diabetes, it could lead to a large for gestational age baby (BIG!) I'm not petite (5'8" 140lbs not pregnant) and my DH is quite tall and broad (6'4" 250ish), but my dr. was sure I had gest. DM as baby John was measuring large (est wt at term-10+ lbs) but my 1 hr GTT was 78 (normal)
I was induced at 38.5 wks and delivered an 8lb 2 oz baby (induced not because of size-I live 1.5 hours from the hospital I delivered at and had an EXTREMELY fast labor the first time!). Everything went well, I have mixed feelings about inductions but due to the fact I was measuring large and I was dilated at 5cm and 80% effaced at 37.5 wks, I was happy to be there (esp. when my water broke and John was born in less than 20 minutes! YIKES!!!!)
take care and sorry so long!
julie:)

I was told all along to expect a rather large baby. That she was measuring in the 95th percentile and she ended up coming on her own at 38 weeks and was a perfect 7pounds and 1 ounce. Not sure about the fluid question, but I thought that may give you some reassurance you may still have a 7 pounder!
