I Hate Cardio Check-in, 3/17

Miss Lee

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Okay, I did cardio FIVE days in a row, a record for me, so I am taking the day off. I have various and different people coming by today for guestimates on things like landscaping, and my AC is getting a spring check-up. If all my stars line up correctly, I might try to do a strength training add on from one of my Cathe DVD's.

Have a great day, everyone, and a great cardio work out!

Hey Fellow Cardio-haters!

Good Morning Michele! Well I got thru my lowmax yesterday. I had to give in the PM protein shake because I had burned so many calories from my other workouts too that I just needed it. Weight is fine, didn't go up much...a pound. Today I am going to do 3 sets of the BBM workout w/weights. This will get my heart rate up as I am not suppose to take too many rest periods inbetween so you might as well say it is another day of cardio too. Then onto chest/back. Love to work my lats and back, but benching I stink at.

Well I wonder if Shelly got in her cardio?

Charlotte~~

Hi Michele and all you fellow haters! I'm doing my usual walk during lunch. I"m wondering if I need to **gasp** up my cardio? I was so good this week with my eating and exercise and I GAINED a lb. Now mind you, I've got quite a bit to lose so I should not be gaining but losing. Can you tell I'm frustrated???? I don't want to hear don't pay attention to the scale b/c at my weight the scale DOES matter. ((sigh))

Not sure what I'll end up doing this weekend. It's going to be cold and I don't feel like lugging the kids out for a walk. Maybe I"ll just use my elliptical or attempt a DVD.

Happy St. Patrick's day and have a great weekend!!

Charlotte, congrats on finishing LowMax yesterday. Way to Go!!! ((high 5)).

What is the BBM workout? I love working my back too but I can't do a pullup!! I loathe chest but that is b/c the chest is my weakest.

Have a great workout!

Charlotte - I did MIC warm-up and hi/lo and the Imax 3 blast only premix on an 8" step.;) Can you say DRENCHED? I knew you'd be looking for me, so I figured I'd post it here:)

Yes, Shelly. I checked the Daily Check In just as soon as I posted my above message. ;-) I knew you wouldn't let us down! Great job as usual!!!

I actually got myself out of bed this morning and did my 30 min walk/run around the neighborhood. It felt nice and now I am much more alert at work this morning.

However, I was really disappointed when I stepped on the scale last night and I had gained a pound or so. I have been really watching what I am eating and have exercised more regularly for a few weeks. I am basically at my goal weight so I don't expect to lose much weight, if any, but I don't want to gain it either! I know that weight fluctuates a lot so I am going to just keep doing what I am doing and give it some time. I used to be able to lose a few pounds in a week watching what I eat, but I guess I can't do that anymore.

Dana and Diane, I'm a little frustrated, too. I don't usually weigh myself but I decided to this week and I have gained a pound from 2 days ago despite all this cardio. I think it was a mistake for me to get on the scales this morning. I'm going to wait and weigh myself again a week from today and see what happens. As much as it pains me to say it, I know that cardio is very important for my health and this little check-in is helping me to stay on task...I can't afford to be discouraged by the scale. I may take a hammer to it next week if it hasn't budged}(

Dana, I don't know what cardio I'm doing this weekend either. I'm going to see if DH wants to do something with me. Maybe we can take our bikes out if it's nice.

Diane, I'm thoroughly impressed that you were up and at it early this morning. that is my next goal, to get up early and DO IT!!

Charlotte, what is BBM? Oh, and I aspire to your sense of self-discipline.

You gals are the greatest!

Michele

This check in is really helping me stay on task too! Soon I may have to start a "I stopped doing weight lifting because I am doing too much cardio" check in at the rate I am going. I mapped out my training schedule from now until the 1/2 marathon in January. Before the half marathon, I plan on doing 2 5Ks and a 10K as part of my training. The training schedule is pulled together from a Women's running book I have and from Higdon's website. Most of the time I will run four days a week, strength train 2-3 times a week, and cross train a couple of days. Sometimes I will be running 5 days a week! If my legs are not looking great by January, then there is really no hope for me.

Michele,

BBM is Big Butt Management http://www.wendymccaffrey.com/BBM Now I got to get disciplined again and get going with the workout. I am dog dragged out tired today! I am really cranky, but no time for a nap so my poor family will have to cope somehow. LOL!

BTW, I love this check in! It is really keeping me on my toes!!!! What a great idea, Michele!!!! Thanks for the extra push!!!!!

Charlotte~~

BBM! That's what I need--LOl! LOVE that name.

Charlotte, I'm glad you like this check-in and may I just say that you are such an inspiration! You could be a freakin drill sargeant!

Diane, I think it's so cool that you have this goal for a 1/2 marathon. It's neat that you have a friend to do that with. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think I would do better if I had a work out partner. But I don't so that's what you guys are for me.

Michele:)

Diane,

I have one stubborn backside. If anything is going to help shape up the butt and legs...this workout might be the thing. Of course, you still need to do blast, and other leg workouts to switch things up. I haven't noticed any difference yet. My diet is good. I will just keep on keeping on and let you all know.

Michele,

Uh, that was your role yesterday with Shelly, or did you forget? Don't worry I will be around to do my own shouting and stuff, don't you worry? LOL! No one interested in working out in my neck of the woods either. Even DD and her friend seemed to lost interest. Oh, well. DH is still sticking with having me pack his lunch. Lost 4 pounds already!!!!

Charlotte~~

I wish that I had a workout partner in the same city. My best friend who will run the 1/2 marathon with me lives in Florida, but we used to workout together almost every day in law school. My other 2 friends I used to workout with moved to other cities recently. I guess my husband is sometimes my workout partner, as in we sometimes are at the gym at the same time. I am his unofficial "personal trainer" and design workout plans for him. Right now he is doing a one body part per day routine that is mostly taken from one of Cathe's rotations. He said he will run 5Ks with me, but isn't training with me because he doesn't want to run that much.

I was so horrible at lunch! I went on a client lunch to an Italian restaurant. Lots of bread, pasta with cream sauce, cappuccinos. And tonight I am going out to dinner again for mother in law's birthday. Oh well, I will have to throw in some extra cardio tomorrow.

I wish I had a work-out buddy too. My friend that I used to walk with moved away. Her and I would walk 10 miles 5x/week (this was a long time ago). My DH has no interest in fitness whatsoever.

I did run into an old friend at the dr. office the other day and she gave me her number. I think I may give her a call. She is one of the few people I know (in real life) who are really into fitness.

Dana, by all means call her! My best friend likes to walk and she and I used to walk together all the time, but I can't walk WITH HER anymore. I mean, this girl weighs about 100 lbs., she will not warm up OR cool down, and she walks like she's going to a fire. I swear--she may as well be running. I just can't walk like that. I really didn't enjoy it at all. I tried to talk to her, that I needed a warm up period, a cool down, and a stretch, but it didn't do any good. I felt that her approach to fitness walking was NOT very conducive to fitness--LOL! anyway, I'm out in the cold now with nobody to walk with.

Call her and let us know what happens, and good luck!

Diane, don't feel bad. I'm having pizza for dinner.

Michele
