I gave the master trainer at my gym a KB DVD

Steve Weber's to be exact. He told me he watched it & it looked really easy. Then he tried it & it kicked his butt.:D:p He says he's incorporating some of it into his body pump class.

This kind of thing always cracks me up. He's constantly teasing me for working out at home more than at the gym. Then he tries one of my home workouts & it puts a hurtin' on him.

Maybe he'll start listening to me now? Naaaaaaaaaaaah, WTH am I thinking? ;)

Do you mean he is teaching kbs in some of his classes? If so, that is scary. There's a lot to teaching kbs and people who are not certified should not be doing it IMO.

You know, come to think of it I see several trainers at my gym using bells with there clients and I'll bet my @$$ they aren't certified for it.

I think that's funny. Remember how I was sore for 5 days after the "easy" workout? Better tell him about certification, though.

No, they don't have KBs at my gym. I mean he's taking the concepts & incorporating them into his class. Jeez, I wonder how a funny post became so negative?

Didn't mean to sprinkle your funny thread with negativity. It's just the way the post was worded it sounded like he was incorportating kbs in his class. I know most would agree with me that kbs are not to be taken lightly or taught by someone who doesn't have any prior knowledge.

Yeah, I know some people here think KBs are rocket science or something. Personally I don't think it's nearly as cerebral as some seem to believe. I'm fairly certain that someone who's been a fitness professional for the past 17 years & has worked his way up the ladder to managing his own club wouldn't have a tough time picking it up.

I agree. (I also agree it sounded like he was going to start teaching KB in class--with no training).

Unfortunately, some instructors (even ones I usually find to be excellent) aren't of the same opinion. Gin Miller's new KB workout comes to mind.

But if he's a professional worth his salt who plans to *charge* people for training/classes using them...then IMO he should get at least some kind of certification.

Me too lol! I also like this one :eek::eek::eek::eek:

That one looks like the cookie monster! Or Kermit the frog.

(And there are several threads about cookies going on right now. I don't know if I can resist the temptation!

I think this guy  often expresses my sentiments quite nicely.

We need a green-cheeked version of this guy  to express feeling nauseated by something. (I, personally, am never "nauseous", though others may think so, LOL!)

Oh yes!! I would definitely use a green-cheeked version of  on occasion at least ;)

Hi Laura,

I love how your "home workout dvd" crippled the guy! How funny--I'd love to have seen him try to go down the stairs with serious DOMS (very "John Wayne", is my guess!)

I really have to try KBs. (A sweetie pie gave me a 10 lb and a 12 lb which I know are light, but damn, they were free!!) How the heck can I justify a $40- $50 dvd when I have STS coming?! Not to mention the cost of heavier KBs which I know I'll need?

Okay, all done ranting. Bye for now-

My wicked soreness came from using 7 and 10lb kb's... I wish that weren't true.

Hi Stacey,

Believe me, I wasn't dissing the light weights ones!! I know I'll be hobbling too using the 10 & 12 lbers with the right dvd! I meant that I'll need to buy heavier ones down the road and how do I justify that expense with STS coming. Sorry for the confusion.

maybe an old dog doesn't need to learn new tricks.....
