Anyone here Hypo-thyroid?

If so, are you able to maintain the weight you want? Are you helped my the meds?

I think I might be and I am kinda scared about it.

I am. I had a goiter when I was 21 & I've been on the meds for about 16 years now. Synthroid made the goiter shrink, but in my own experience the meds have had nothing to do w/my weight. It's all in the diet for me.

I have hypothryroidism; actually since age 3, and have taken a daily synthroid tablet since then. I'm 34 now. I've always had a high metabolism but I think diet (as someone else said) is the key to controlling weight plus working out.

I'm a hypo too. I have been for 4 years. I am also on Synthroid. I think the common myth about hypothyroidism is that you will have trouble losing weight. This is a myth. If your thyroid is functioning at a normal level on meds, then it is a diet issue, not your thyroid. It did take my doc almost a year to get my dosage right, but exercise and proper eating will keep your weight under control anyways. So no need to worry.
