Hungry all the time

Hello. I am eight weeks pregnant with my first and feel like I am hungry all of the time. Is it too early to be this ravenous?? Could it all be in my head??? Also, I find myself justifying eating things I would normally keep to minimum- can you say birthday cake, french fries, pasta with creamy sauces, fried foods. I should not be having these cravings so early should I???

if it helps to know, i was the original cookie monster my first trimester. not usual for me. couldn't stand veggies, which i normally love. i gained 10-12lbs. since thouggh, things have really been fine. now chocolate and cookies etc are not appealing. nothing is truthfully. no room to eat. my total weight gain at 36 weeks is 20lbs. so i guess i am trying to say don't worry, stay active, try to eat good stuff first and take your vitamins.

With my first pregnancy I was the SAME way!!! Totally, creamy sauces, sweets galore. Fast food, fried food. Stuff I NEVER eat, at least not often. Hey enjoy, this is the only time you'll be that way. Just keep up with the workouts and you'll lose it all after.;-)

I was starving my whole pregnancy and always eating. I recommend eating before your starved so your will power is a little better and increasing the proteins. Like morris, I gained weight quickly but by the day i gave birth had gained only 21.5 pounds and I ate constantly. Now my daughter is 8 days old and I only have 8 pounds to lose. Keep up the workouts and you'll be suprised, you are probably just eating what the baby needs.

OMG!! Ok, at least I am not the only one...I gained 10 pounds in the first 8 weeks of pregnancy...I could not stop eating!!! Now, at 16 weeks with twins, I am getting back to "normal." I swear, people who work out and are smaller than most when they get pregnant gain more in the beginning. But, according to my three sisters who have all had kids and now are back in better shape than before, said that the weight gain DOES even out!! They really slowed down the second half... So, there is hope!

Anyway, CONGRATS to you...eat while you can...this is the only time in life you will! Also, morning sickness may curb your cravings, too!?

Jenni, I agree with you. I believe when you are thin , during early pregnancy the body quickly stores fat and has a quicker weight gain . The body seems to know what it needs.

Jenni,

I am 9 weeks pregnant and have already gained 7 pounds. The 6th and 7th weeks were the worst for me in terms of eating.....hungry ALL the time. I am ashamed to admit it, but there were one or two days that I actually ate 3 breakfasts (oatmeal, cheerios, pop tarts)!!!! I know, disgusting! It was partially due to the nausea which was worse on an empty stomach, but I swear my body was crying for food which it normally NEVER does. The eating is still out of whack, but not nearly as bad as a few weeks ago. Hopefully, it will taper off by the 2nd trimester.

Toodles,
Trish

I was ravenous the first several weeks before morning sickness kicked in. I remember getting hungry just a couple of hours after breakfast one day before I even knew I was pregnant and thinking to myself, "wow, I'm hungry" and running to get a yogurt! After morning sickness subsided, I would get painfully hungry if I let too much time go by between meals. That only happened twice and after that I put myself on a stricter eating schedule to I wouldn't get that hungry again. Enjoy some of the foods you normally don't eat all the time. I did, especially if it was a craving that wouldn't go away, but I made sure it was normal portion size, not binge size!

Trish...are you ready for this???(background, I have been a strict vegetarian for 16 years) and one day I drove by a McDonald's...I ordered 4, yes 4, egg mcmuffins (at least no meat) ate them on the way home, then made two more when I got home!?!?!??!?! I never eat in the car, never eat eggs, never would eat 6 sandwiches...and, the funny thing...I was hungry about 30 mintutes later!! hahahaaa
These babies have taken over!

You made me laugh with your breakfast choices...I actually thought, hummmm....those all sound good! ha

Congrats to you!!!! Hang in there with the morning sickness...it will pass!!

Thanks for all of the feedback. I feel a little nervous at times like I may be doing something wrong for my baby-like stuffing it!!!! Anyway, it is really nice to have people to talk to about this especially since it is new. It seems the more books I read the more nervous I get. So most of you have found that you did lose most of the weight? Did you feel like you were able to return to pre-pregnancy body overall??

Prepregnancy body and smaller, my pre preg jeans were loose!! And I was a 3 pre preg! And that was 6 months after. Cuz remember, I conceived again at 7 months post.;-) ;-) Don't you worry. Like I said, I gained 45 pounds!!!! I didn't think it was possible for me to do that. Like the others said, us skinnies put on more faster, it's more noticeable. Especially in your face!!
But still, enjoy those chocolate chip shakes or whatever your fancy, it TOTALLY comes off. And keep up the workouts no matter what:p

I got back to pre-pregnancy weight the day after my daughter turned 9 months old. That's with regular workouts and about 3 weeks of weight watchers at one point when I was stuck with 9 pounds to go. I have found unfortunately that despite working out regularly that I now gain weight much easier than before I was pregnant. It's just how my body type is. So I have to work harder to keep the creeping pounds off but when I look at my baby girl, it's all worth it!
