Hubby and P90X

I'm going to try to get my DH to do P90X with me when it arrives (how long does it take?)

I'm just curious, we have dumbbells up to 40 pounds. Will this be enough for him? We also have a Hoist machine that he uses, so he may use that to get his heavier weight work. Sorry, I have no idea how much weight men can do. Will I need to get him some heavier dumbbells?

Thanks.

It kinda depends on what your DH can lift now. Does he regularly work out currently? You'll have to do the fitness test when it arrives to see if you both should do the program. If you are currently doing Cathe, I would imagine that you would pass:) I think 40# for him will certainly be adequate. I can't really recall Tony lifting over 30# but I am fairly new to P90X and I haven't done all of the workouts yet so I could be wrong. You might want to consider getting bands or a pull up bar for the pull ups though - lots and lots of pull ups}( Push up bars are also very helpful - lots and lots of push ups:p

When I ordered, I got the free expedited shipping and I think it took about 10 days to get it.:)

Congratulations on your new workouts! You won't regret it;-)

I think that it depends on how much weight work he is doing now. My DH took a break for a while and when he started to do P90X with me, 20# or 25# were good enough.

He should be fine with 40s. I'm not sure Tony goes over 40 on any exercise, though he says that he could. My SO can lift fairly heavy, and he managed with 35s as our heaviest.

He should be fine with that weight to start with, but you may end up buying at least one heavier weight (I added a second 30-pound -dumbell--to do some bench presses that I subbed for some of the push-ups, and a single 35-pound bell--for rows-- to my collection when I was doing a P90X rotation).
