How to stop canvassing at reception desk?

I've been asked to come up with a way to stop canvassing at the reception area of my employer's office building. I've been told that a sign-in sheet or check-in log is inappropriate. Also, we can't simply rely on the receptionist to watch everyone entering the building as sometimes her back is turned. Any suggestions?

How about a nice, brushed-brass plaque that says, "No solicitors, canvassers or other riff-raff permitted. Violators will be shot and then prosecuted."?

But seriously, a well-placed and well-made sign should go far for what you need, especially if they won't let you do a sign-in sheet (which, IMHO, is a mistake on their part).

my bf has a hair salon and she made a sign to put on her door that says " i kill every third salesman! The 2nd one just left!" by canvassing do you mean sales people?
