How much Money for Christmas?

Hello,

I'm a mother of 6 children 16, 13, 11, 11, 6, 4 moths, (5 boys and 1 girl). How much do you spend on your children for Christmas, specially the older ones that they are not so much into toys anymore? Thanks

I have 3 kids, so I'm not dividing the budget into as many shares as you are. Our kids are 15, 13, and 10. We now do $100 per child for Christmas and $50 for birthdays. We didn't spend as much when they were younger.

Now they are older and want electronics and cameras, so they want the dollar amount so they can put the money toward the item they want. They ask for money from their Grandparent's, too. It's easier for me, but pretty bah-humbug. They even do their own shopping--reading reviews and finding the best deals, so their money goes further. Again, very non-magical--but I guess they are learning good life skills.

I only have one child so my post probably really will do you no good LOL but we don't have a pre-set spending limit for our son. We just shop and buy until we feel it's enough. Historically we do not buy him a lot because he is the only kid on DH's side (he's 5) so they spoil him rotten! If this wasn't the case we would probably do more but not too much more b/c we just don't have the room to keep it all and quite honestly, how much does one child need???

Whatever you can afford.

At our house, I put $ 150/month into a savings account, which is then used for presents throughout the year. (Of course, if there is an emergency, that spending money goes to the emergency.)

My kids are 16 and 13 and each wanted the 4th generation of ipod touch.
