For me, i go back and forth between 3 and 6 meals. it depends on how busy i am and if i want to be bothered with preplanning. in all honesty, i have not seen any difference in my phsique or energy levels by doing less frequent meals. so i'm just interested in what everyone does and why?

I eat 7 mini-meals each day starting with a protein shake made with water and flax oil.

The 3 meals consist of 4 ounces protein, 1 cup veggies, 140 calories of a whole grain food.... then I have two more protein shakes with water and flax oil...plus a gallon of water each day. I have one cheat day. This plan was too strict so I added the cheat for my sanity.

I have leaned out with the plan...but have loosened the reins a bit, if I am hungrier at a meal I add more veggies or more whole grain carbs. I bake up a bunch of turkey breast burgers (plain) and chicken breasts for the week and make one trip to the grocers for fresh veggies. It takes more planning on my part but I can see the difference.

I eat six small meals a day(I follow the Body for life program)

one is a protien shake

the rest consist of a lean protien(portion)and a healthy carb(portion-no white stuff) and in two of those meals i eat some veggies! I also drink a gallon of water a day and have one cheat day a week.

I started this about six weeks ago and as of today(my weigh in is on saturday)i have lost 8pds,i hope its ten after saturday...my fingers are crossed!

I does take alot of planning, but its so worth it! I feel awsome:)

I voted 3 main meals and 2 or 3 snacks, but I really eat 4 small meals and 3 snacks:

I usually have a fruit or egg whites before I work out
breakfast - oatmeal or pancakes or kashi and an orange
snack- 1/2 a protein bar (easiest when working)
lunch- small lunch
mid afternoon snack- more like another small lunch
dinner- nothing heavy, low carbs/ more protein
snack- puffins/popcorn/ww icecream

I have been doing this for a little over a year, and I have noticed a difference when I first switched. Now my body is programed to eat every 2-3 hours, sometimes its a good thing, sometimes not! but I like that I never feel really full, just content. I think you should do what works for you.

Just realised I should have voted other!:)LOL

I eat three main meals a day with one or two snacks, depending on my hunger levels. I tried the 6 mini-meals and I was just never satisfied and always felt like I was snacking. Didn't work well for me at all. The three main meals with some snacks does work well for me though.

I eat 3 meals, 2 snacks

B protein shake w/fruit, kashi waffle
S usually fruit or whole grain crackers and low fat cheese
L protein, veggies, a few carbs
S fruit, some type of bar
D protein, veggies, a few carbs

I feel the same way!! I eat and an hour later I'm looking for another little something. Good thing I try to stick to carrots or fruit for my snack attacks :)
Although the occassional cookie, candy or chocolate do sneak their way in!

Usually 5, but more of a 3 meals + 2 snacks I guess. I find eating every 3 hours or so keeps my blood sugar stable. If I wait too long between eating I get a headache or have on occasion passed out!

OMG Jess...passed out!?! How scarey! I'll bet you carry protein bars in your purse at all times now, huh?

I can get headaches from going hungry for too long as well. I also get extremely ornery. I am usually a laid back person with a long fuse but when I get hungry and don't eat...WATCH OUT!x( I try to carry a snack with me if I think I might not have any other chance to eat w/in a few hours time.

Um, yeah.... I scared my dh pretty bad. It's happened twice, and I hope it never happens again! And I always carry a protein bar and nuts in my car at all times!! LOL @ you getting ornery, I can just picture it!! }(

I eat maybe 1 meal a day and that is lunch. The rest of the time I am snacking! It's probably because of my job and hours. I get up in the AM and normall have coffee, then I workout and have a protein shake. Then I will usually eat lunch, and then the rest of the day snack on nuts (or chocolate). I wish I could eat more regularly so it would fill me up!
