How many good form pushups can you do?

I have never done them until I was exhausted, but I want to know what everyone else can do and how long did it take before you could do say "25" or "30" or more,.............

And Pinky: Can you really do 72!!! :) HOLY COW!

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! ROTFLMAO! I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may embarrass me!

...and that's all I have to say about THAT question! :p

I can do 16. I found the more I did them rather than avoid them, my ability got lots better.

Push-ups are probably my least favorite of all exercises because they are sooooo hard! (especially the slow version - oh my gawd, talk about pain.) But Candi is right about getting better the more you do them. I have to really push myself to the limit to do them from the toes and up to about 20 reps and that's about it before the arms are gone!!!! And I can't avoid them for 2 weeks like I used to. How many days per week do you all do pushups?

Reba, those 72 are the push-ups in GS-CT, so there are rests between sets. I do those using Cathe's pace. That's not 72 reps in one sitting. The most I was able to do in one sitting was 34, I think. That was a long time ago. Maybe I should go back to that -- do 2 sets of 36 instead of the ones in GS. The 5 sets of 12 (if I remember correctly) in Cathe's May rotation was good as well. I try to do many push-ups before doing presses. This way I don't have to use so much weight for presses. I don't have a bench or anyone to spot me.:)

I think I can do about 20 good form now. I started with Cathe this March so it has taken me about that long. I am now working on improving incline pushups and pushups with each leg raised.

I've asked advice about doing pushups before and got some really good ideas from you ladies. I went from maybe one to 6-7 now. I'm thinking that pushups are probably harder for us women with larger breasts because of the extra body weight on top. I have felt vindicated because of this as I consider myself to be in pretty good shape and was confused why I was not up to par with this exercise.

I too can now do all the ones in gym style chest! I am amazeed that i can. I do however love pushups:) For me I think it is because my who;w upper body not just my chest is so strong since I started lifting with cathe!

How many can I do? 75 in a row. Shooting for 100 in November. Pushups are the absolute best exercise for your upper body, bar none. You do more by doing sets.

I've been doing more and more body weight exercises like pushups, dips and chin-ups, and found my strength increasing much more than when I only did weights.
Just Do It! :)

hmmm... why I do not like push-ups? they are hard, I can do 30 on my knees but on my toes? just 2... bummer x(

I can do sets of 25-30 reps at a time. The key to getting to that many is to just keep doing them. P90X, where you do as many as you can as opposed to a set number, is what helped me get past the 10-12 rep plateau.

On a good day I can do several sets of 15-20 on my toes slowly all the way to the floor and back up again. Using P90X also helped me to finally be able to achieve, 10 slow decline push-ups on a chair without a problem. Before P90X I was only able to do maybe 3-4 push-ups on my toes.

:)

I only can do 10-12 ranges on my toes. I am hat off to all you ladies can finish push-up in GS and those doing more than 15...

Question, how often do you do you push up in order to increase your ability?

Currently, I am doing free style rotation. Does push up on toes fit in Free Style training category?

Thanks

Usually from 12 -20 in a set on my toes, depending on where they fit in the workout (if I'm already tired out from other chest work, it's in the low range). And on some days, I do better than others.

P90X REALLY helped me get to that point!

And I do all 72 (!) of the push-ups in GS, but I put a longer break between sets (o.k., I guess I "cheat"!) so I can do them all on my toes. (somehow, that "break" get longer and longer between each set!)

I LOVE push-ups! They bring out my competitive side, probably because girls aren't supposed to be able to do them on their toes...HA!

I can do all of the 72 in GS: C&T at the same pace as Cathe and crew.

I can do 35 push-ups in a row before I need to take a break...

Wow honeybunch...awesome accomplishment! You rock!
