How many calories do you take in a day while losing weight with Cathe advanced workouts?

I'm not new to Cathe, but I've started doing her workouts exclusively and can tell I need to up my calorie intake.

I'm just wondering what others may be taking in to keep loosing weight while doing advanced Cathe workouts.

After my son was born I was calorie staggering to lose the weight. I voted for 1500-1800 cals because I was in the 1500-1600 range on my deficit days but my maintenence day was up over 2000.

Everyone is different though. Do what works best for you! You can find several sites on the web that will help you figure out what your calories should be.

I do the same thing Wendy does. I zigzag. Three days deficit, one day maintenance. My deficit days range from 1450 to 1660 and my maintenance day is around 2,080. Been doing this since July 2005.

So this zig zag thing really worked for you guys? Could you be a little more specific just because I have been in this plateau for months. I've monkeyed with the WO which has helped, but I need to actually LOSE fat while toning too.

Hi Maeghan... when I first started last July, Sarah (aka Imafitnessfreak) set up my calorie ranges based off information I gave her. I had the formulas on how to set them up but I can't seem to put my hands on them right now.

Wendy... do you have the formulas?.... or maybe Sarah will see this and help out.

I love this way of eating because I never go into "starvation mode". I track my calories, fat, protein, carbs, and fiber on fitday.com.

Well I didn't up my intake, I lowered it, cause I was eating way to many calories a day anyway...... I eat about 1200 calories a day........ Rhonda

Here's one of the generic systems but you'll need to know your lean mass in KG :

BMR (men and women) = 370 + (21.6 X lean mass in kg) = :) :) :)

TDEE = :) :) :) x 1.55 (*) = :+ :+ :+

* = your activity level ~ 1.55 (mod active - 3-5 days a week working out)
(I'm blanking on the number for very active but it's something like 1.75...this is for 6 or 7 days a week working out, I think)

:+ :+ :+ minus 500 = for fat loss
OR
:+ :+ :+ minus 20% = for fat loss

Susan, you can really lose 3 lbs a week eating 2500?? I thought that was way to much. Do you exercise alot to have to eat that many? When I really started to lose fast I was at about 1200 a day. But that stopped working after awhile. I guess maybe because I really picked up the exercising!

I would say "none of the above" because I don't count calories: I just eat a whole food, plant based diet, and if I feel I need to lose weight, watch the 'treats,' and it kind of takes care of itself.

I also do zig-zagging, okay well I just started, and it's based on an average of about 1660 calories per day. My one lowest day is about 1200, my highest 2150 (woo hoo!). The other days range somewhere between those numbers.

I found this site below which can help in figuring out a good zig zag "schedule", though I find the calories given a bit under what I really need according to my TDEE as figured out by the same method of calculation given above.

In the past, whenever I've accidently had a high calorie day, it usually results in some weight loss. :)

Thanks for responding everyone. I did one of those calorie figuring things and it gave me a pattern for zigzagging, too. It's pretty interesting.

I'm 5'10 and need 2000 calories a day to keep from eating my desk. I lose with about 2100-2200 and depending on what I'm doing, can go as high as 2600 and still lose. (P90X and training for a half marathon have me in that catagory right now) I've stopped really counting, but, if I start to gain, or start getting really hungry again, I'll start back.
