How Long Low Calorie

Well put Sparrow. I think many people get caught up in wanting to weigh a certain number whether they are meant to or not. I've certainly fallen into this as well and it's taken me forever to get over it. If I forced myself to eat 1200 or less a day, I KNOW I'd be starving myself and even though I'd lose weight, I'd be on the way to a massive eating disorder I'm sure.

Exactly...

I say if this is what I want then whats it to everyone else ?

You do your thing your way, and I will do mine, my way and we are all happy. I am sure not going to tell someone they should drop their calories and do what I am doing. But I do expect others to give me the same respect. If your happy with what you weigh doing it your way great.

This is my thing:7

Rhonda,
I'm sorry if you feel like you were not being repected. It wasn't my intent and I'm not even sure you're referring to my post. I will say that if someone posts a question, we all have our right to express our opinions however unpopular they may be. That's the beauty of the boards.
I will also on occasion question someone's motive behind weight loss because people don't always have the healthiest reason's for losing weight. I'm not sure this is the case here, but knowing how people are about this, it's not entirely an inappropriate subject to broach.
Good luck with your thing.:)

Hi Carolyn..

No problem, its just that I replied to someone elses post. I am on my own mission:) and I am glad you respect that and thanks for your kind words. I just think that some people tend to get a little over bearing with their opinions at times(that doesn't mean you)....

thanks again for your kind response:7
its ok if you question my motives, doesn't mean you'll get an answer:7

Sparrow,

I don't think I struggle to stay at my current weight at all, it's quite easy. I don't think I'm straving, nor do I look like it. I'm quite satisfied with my meals. I know I don't need 2000 calories a day 7 days a week.

I also don't have a number that I want to be, but I strive or have the desire for that lean look. I personally could still lose the last 5-8lbs, but for me that is where I would be fighting to stay to maintain.

A few months ago, I weighed around 115lbs. I had maintained that weight (besides after vacations) for almost 2 1/2 or 3 years. My body always goes back down to the current "new weight" for some reason. So, I guess my current weightloss is my new set-point, because my body keeps returning to it without trying.

I also don't count calories anymore. It's only when I'm trying to drop weight I need to go down to 1000-1200 calories. I know basically what I need at one meal. Yes, sometimes it's more than I should have, but I don't worry about too much as long as I keep it under control and get back on the wagon within 3 days.

Rhonda,

I also think people tend to forget to think in terms of height. We shorties need a lot less calories. Because of our height, it's even harder for us to lose weight and get the calories we need.

Good point. And, appetites are different. We all know people who consume a low number of calories not because they are trying to "reduce", but because they are just naturally light eaters who aren't into food (who are these crazy people?! :+ ) My only point, in response to the OP's comment that it seems like the only way she can lose weight is to starve, was that if a person is already in good shape, eats well, gets plenty of exercise etc., and has to fight like hell to lose a few more pounds, then that person may be battling her body's natural weight, I think it's being called "set-point" these days. Is it bad? Who knows? I can only speak from my own experience.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow - what a ride!’ — Peter Sage

Sparrow,

I hear what you are saying. There are so many variables that affect weight loss and weight maintenance.

I know for me, even though I exercise my little heart out and eat reasonably clean, the fact that I am an endomorph, over age 50 (my metabolism slowed down in my early forties), only 5'0" and that I work a desk job makes it very, very difficult for me to lose weight. It's all I can do to maintain :)

I agree w/ everyone about doing what's BEST for you! It's an individual thing through trial and error. That's what I am doing now.

I wanted to point out too, that it's kinda hard when you don't have the TASTEBUDS for all those clean eating foods! LOL!! That's my problem. I have a hard time w/ veggies. I don't like too many of them. Also, I know I am suppose to eat fish, but I have a hard time eating that too!

So, my body kinda falls into a plateau cuz of my same-o same-o eating. What do to??

take care:)

Gloria,

Time and patience and just try different good carbs till ya find something that works for you. Also, I have found that if I just eat it anyway, sometimes I tend to get used to it like anything else, use alot of herbs when you fix your fish or chicken or tuna or what ever to spice it up.

I have found my taste buds tend to adjust specially when I am really wanting to reach a goal, I just keep in mind eat to live. Cause I do have my cheat weekends:7 :7

I try not to go overboard on the weekends but my eating isn't clean on weekends lol...

I wish ya the best... Rhonda:7 :7 :7
